Silverstone Sugo SG08 Case Review

Typically when you build a system the capacity and power is often determined by the size of the motherboard.  For instance standard ATX motherboards often support 2 and 3 way GPU setups while the smaller micro-ATX motherboards only have room for one or two.  Following the same logic we can deduce that a mini-ITX system would be rather limited to an enthusiast however, when it comes to mini-ITX the limiting factor isn't always the motherboard but the chassis.

In this review we will be looking at a case from Silverstone called the Sugo SG08.  This is a small cube style case specifically  designed to maximize the mini-ITX platform and take advantage of the ultra edition motherboards supporting Intel Core processors.

Looking at the SG08 I am humbly reminded of a short lived system type pioneered by Shuttle called the SFF (Small Form Factor).  These systems were comprised of a cube style chassis, specialty PSU, and custom motherboard.  While they were quite popular they did eventually fall out of popularity due to hardware limitations.  The Sugo SG08 isn't an attempt to revitalize the SFF but rather refine the design and make it into something that can be upgraded and handle the demands of a modern computer system.

As the specifications would indicate the Sugo SG08 offers a little more than your standard SFF chassis by including a 80 Plus Bronze PSU and support for a powerful graphics card.  Those things alone help to define the SG08 as a premiere chassis that can be used for all types of systems including LAN gaming, HTPC, application servers, and general purpose workstations.
