Computex 2010 Planning - The day before a big trip
Posted By: Redmax
As with any trip the day before you leave can be a little stressful. You need to make sure that everything will be taken care of while you are gone, stuff like yard work, bills, mail delivery, pets, etc.. You also need to make sure you bring everything that you will need. I usually prescribe to bringing everything I need, that is special and unique to me. (Personal care items, clothes, etc) with the idea that if I forget or run out of anything I can buy when I get there.
Of course depending on your destination that "can" be difficult. Taiwan isn't an issue since most everything we have here in the states can be found over there.
After packing the items you need to survive you need to tackle the other items you need specific for the trip. In my case since I'll be attending Computex and reporting for Ninjalane.com I need to pack my work stuff. That includes my Camera, Laptop, Charging equipment, Business cards, Notebooks, Cellphone and misc other business items.
Inevitability you will always get that feeling that you have forgotten something, so how do you avoid this feeling??
Careful packing
When I travel I tend to pack things in 3 steps.
- First, gather up all of my travel documents and anything I will actually need to get to my destination. Passport, ID cards, Money, and itinerary.
-Next, pack all of the personal items I will need while at my destination, ie Clothes, personal items.
- Finally, I collect up my computer and electronic stuff.
The important part is to pack each bag separately. For instance when I pack up my laptop bag (which I take on the plane with me) I start by emptying the entire thing and load everything I need to run my laptop and finish off by actually putting the laptop in the bag. Once it's packed set it aside and move on to the camera case and start the process all over for my camera gear.
The good thing about doing this is that once the bag is packed and you have everything you need.
When it's time to leave, grab your bags, double check the first thing on the list (travel documents, ID, Passport, Money etc..) and start your journey.
I get to start that whole procedure tomorrow, I can't wait!
