Synology DiskStation DS925+ Review @ Vortez

Published: | Posted By:

Vortez detailed the DS925+ as a competent four-bay NAS powered by a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor running at 2.2 GHz. Its compact design supports both 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives, offers two M.2 NVMe slots for cache acceleration, and now includes dual 2.5 GbE network ports for faster connectivity. The chassis and internal components felt well-constructed, delivering quiet operation and efficient cooling thanks to dual 92mm fans.

"The DiskStation DS925+ is a newly released 4-bay NAS powered by a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor running at 2.2 GHz, offering enhanced multi-threaded performance suitable for demanding workloads."

Performance testing showed smooth operation across file transfers and data-intensive tasks, with speeds reflecting stable Ryzen class CPUs and fast drive access. The Setup was straightforward due to a tool-less design and a polished OS that guides users through configuration in under 15 minutes. However, the NAS now locks support to Synology-branded drives only, limiting third-party options and increasing the overall cost. Despite the higher price point for drives and the absence of a PCIe slot for future expansion, Vortez concluded that DS925+ remains a robust, reliable choice for users seeking a compact, high-performance NAS backed by Synology’s mature software ecosystem.
