Foxconn X38A Digital Life @ Bjorn3D
Published: Monday, March 31, 2008 | By: DennisFunny thing about this review is the quote they sent out in the review release I swear its longer than the whole review!
Here is a "short" snip
Upgrading your rig can be such a pain can't it? Trying to figure out where technology is headed so you don't waste your money on obsolete garbage.
Nice board though, I would't mind having one.

C2Q Q6600 Heatsink Roundup -12 Tested @ DragonSteelMods
Published: Sunday, March 30, 2008 | By: DennisI have noticed a funny thing in the heatsink and cooling industry and it has to do with sound and geographical location. Seems that we here in the US are pretty content with our PCs making a little bit of noise. However when it comes to folks in Europe the less is more approach seems to be where its at.
The trend is baffling and in a way I'd like to know why.
Dragonsteelmods has done a fancy dancy heatsink round up suitable for the Q6600 quad core. They all happen to be heatpipe towers with a stock intel cooler acting as the control. I would have liked to see Cooler Master in the mix but it would seem they are too loud?
Dunno.

DFI LanParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G Intel LGA775 Motherboard Review @ ThinkComputers
Published: Sunday, March 23, 2008 | By: DennisWhoa, here is a blast from the past.
A while back ATI did up some chipsets for the Intel processors but they never really took off, actually it wasn't until Intel started supporting crossfire that any of the ATI technology was known throughout the mainstream.
Today we will be looking at the DFI LanParty UT IFCX3200-T2R/G. It is an LGA775 motherboard powered by the ATI RD600 chipset, and featuring ATI CrossFire Xpress 3200 IE. This board has been around for some time but is still available, and at an excellent price.
Can't argue with the price, any they don't do bad in the performance realm either.

NL: Review Block - LCDs
Published: Sunday, March 23, 2008 | By: DennisHere is something new, a news post on monitors. OMG Perish the thought.
- Soyo Topaz S 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor Review @ ThinkComputers
- Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor Review @ TweaknewsPersonally the whole widescreen monitor movement is highly overrated. Granted you get more width but the vertical resolution is pretty damn crappy (by comparison) so short of watching movies do yourself a favor and pay some extra for a good 20"+ 4:3 LCD and enjoy the good life.

Nvidia Waves Away VIA Buy Rumors
Published: Thursday, March 20, 2008 | By: DennisSeems that someone out there is trying to cause trouble for nVidia by spreading rumors?
Nvidia is dismissing reports that it is looking to acquire Taiwanese chipmaker VIA Technologies -- despite persistent rumors about changes strategy ahead for the company.
The most recent reports in Taiwan's DigiTimes claimed the companies discussed three possible scenarios: a strategic alliance; a complete acquisition; or the purchase of just VIA's processor division.
According to the publication, which cited sources at motherboard vendors, the talks fell apart because VIA wanted too much money.Only time will tell if any of this stuff materializes. Though if anything from the past is ever true when companies look to buy other companies their stocks go crazy, get unstable and are prime targets for hostile takeovers. First AMD and now VIA. who would possibly want these companies out of the way??

Nvidia reportedly talking with VIA about acquisition
Published: Tuesday, March 18, 2008 | By: DennisNvidia reportedly was in talks with VIA Technologies about a possible acquisition, but no deal was made due to the high price named by VIA, according to sources at motherboard makers.
Nvidia and VIA discussed three possible scenarios, including a strategic alliance, acquisition of only VIA's processor division, or the acquisition of the entire company, according to the sources. Though no deal was agreed upon, since VIA continues to see losses, the company is expected to open up negotiations again soon with a lower price, noted the sources.Via has so far denied the rumor saying that they are commited to the x86 line of products and does not want to give them up.
Personally I think they should do the merger, back in the day VIA was the way to go for motherboard core logic and then nVidia crushed them with the nForce2, seems only fitting they add the Cyrix line to the nVidia offering.
Then again this might also be a quest to divert attention away from AMD so they can swoop in and do a take over all hostle like.
