After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Fan Details

The Cooler Master Excalibur is not your typical case fan, it features a variety of things designed to limit noise while still maintaining adequate airflow and positive pressure.  One of the most unique features of the Excalibur is the fact it can be almost completely disassembled for cleaning.  Normal fans can quickly degrade as they fill with dust and grime under normal operation.  However with the Excalibur you can remove the center fan assembly and clean all of the hard to reach spots  Doing so helps maintain performance and extends the life of your fan.
Not only can the rotor be removed but the entire housing can be separated for cleaning or to simply remove any protective barrier between you and the 9 spinning fan blades.
Mounting the CM Excalibur is not difficult and even comes with everything you will need.  For noise control you can rubber mount the fan using the including hardware or surface mount this fan with the included fan screws.
Due to the full length mounting post you will have difficulty mounting this fan on most heatsinks that use a wire to hold the fans in place.  Radiators and cases should pose no significant problem.
