MSI MOA Americas Qualifier has ended
In the last podcast Darren and I discussed the MSI MOA Americas Qualifier and what I was doing to prepare to compete. Well, after several long weeks the competition is now over and three overclockers have came out on top.
I was in 3rd place at one point in the competition but was quickly bumped down to 4th after [GF]Duke posted some excellent 3DMark 11 and 3DMark 03 scores using a standard OC edition HD7970. (likely modified) All of the competitors who finished in the top spots used a variety of hardware including LGA2011 Sandy Bridge E and 1155 Sandy Bridge processors both on MSI motherboards.
Sadly, I was at a disadvantage from the start due to my decision to stick with X79 and the HD7970 Lightning but was hopeful that I could get the scores I needed to place well in 3DMark 11 and was hoping for the best from the other two. In the end my gamble didn't pay off and my scores were only good enough for 8th place. Only the top 5 were awarded Level 2 HWBot competition points along with hardware prizes.
Congratulations to the winners, they posted some great scores in all three benchmarks and truly deserve to represent the Americas at the MOA finals.
