The Outer Worlds 2 Performance Benchmark @ TechPowerUp

Published: | Posted By:

TechPowerUp tested The Outer Worlds 2 across a wide range of modern GPUs and hardware configurations to evaluate how well the game performs on PC. They discovered that the game places significant demands on both GPU memory (VRAM) and the CPU, especially when ray tracing is enabled and higher resolutions or ultra settings are used. On 1080p and 1440p settings the frame rates were smooth for many recent cards, but when stepping up to 4K or deploying demanding effects the performance dropped quickly unless upscaling or more powerful hardware was used.

The Outer Worlds 2 continues Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG series with its characteristic humor and satirical tone. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the requirements are high and there are several technical issues. In our performance review, we examine its graphical fidelity, VRAM usage, and how well it runs on a variety of modern GPUs.

In their conclusion, TechPowerUp found that The Outer Worlds 2 is well optimized for a new-generation RPG and delivers a solid experience for players with capable PCs. However, they stressed that to fully benefit from its visual quality and smooth performance, gamers should consider hardware with ample VRAM and strong cooling, avoid older or low-VRAM GPUs, and use appropriate resolution or settings for their system. For the vast majority of modern mid to high-end machines the game is both playable and impressive, though budget or aging systems may struggle without compromise.
