AMD Next Generation ATI Radeon Eyefinity Technology @ HardOCP
Published: Thursday, September 10, 2009 | By: WillIt is cool to see all the new technology coming out. This super high resolution demo looks like the cat's meow here. Still I do have to ask that ultimate question. How much is that setup going to cost me, and is it realistic for this kind of economy now?
"Just a few snapshots to show you some of the capabilities of AMD's next generation Radeon Eyefinity graphics card doing what it looks like it will do best. Muti-monitor gaming is back from the dead...with a vengeance!"
It still looks cool, but I hope this is not ATI big win for the HD 5800 Series cards.

Overclocking Intel's Core i5-750 & i7-870 @ Techgage
Published: Thursday, September 10, 2009 | By: WillThe new Core i5 & i7 have arrived. So it is time to start overclocking, and taking victims in the name of extreme speed. This is a very good read on how far these new guys are willing to be pushed.
"We found out earlier this week that Intel's Lynnfield-based processors are fast, but who said that cranking the clocks to make them even faster was a bad idea? In this article, we take both the Core i5-750 and i7-870 for an overclocking joyride, and the stable overclocks we were able to achieve is nothing short of impressive."
Long live the overclocking enthusiast!

Foxconn gives up own-brand graphics card business
Published: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 | By: WillHere is some news to us here at Ninjalane. We are pretty close to Foxconn and we're very surprised we had not heard about this before hand.
"Foxconn Electronics has given up marketing graphics cards under its own brand and has rearranged its Channel Service Division (CSD) shifting the majority of the 9,000 employees, mainly related to production, to its OEM division. Around 500, mainly sales and marketing related, staff remain in CSD, according to Young Liu, special assistant to the CEO."

Mushkin GeForce GTX 295 Single PCB 1792 MB @ techPowerUp
Published: Tuesday, September 8, 2009 | By: WillSailing the sea of the flooded video card market we get one more company to add to the mix. This time it is from one of our favorite ram makers here at Ninjalane, Mushkin. I hope they add something more than a wooden box to the package deal to get buyers.
"Mushkin's GeForce GTX 295 comes in a very stylish wooden box that radiates "premium product" as soon as you have it in your hands. Other than that the card follows NVIDIA's single PCB GTX 295 reference specifications to the letter, but also comes at an attractive price point of $499."
Hmmm...wood box how unique!

Back from the Mini-Vacation
Published: Sunday, September 6, 2009 | By: DennisHey everyone, I know I didn't mention anything but I was actually away from the helm for the past week while trying to get in one last vacation before the end of the year. Seems the in-laws have a timeshare condo thing right on the coast at Seaside Oregon.
Had a great time, played some golf with my in-laws (played decent), walked on the beach, drank some seawater, drank some beer, BBQ'ed, and was even annoyed by my mother-in-laws cigarette smoke. All in all it wasn't a bad trip.
I'll be uploading some pics from the trip to Facebook and the Message Forum so stay tuned.

Slackware 13.0 Released - The 64-bit Edition
Published: Friday, September 4, 2009 | By: DennisAfter a long wait the Slackware team has finally released an update to the famed 12.2 and this time complete with an x86_64 port for all of us wanting to run Linux on the latest 64-bit hardware.
Personally I have been using Slackware for years now but not as a main system, the development tools I use are not available on Linux so only my servers are Linux based and it is not uncommon for them to run 7-8 months without me checking on them. Yep they are that stable.Probably the biggest change is the addition of an official 64-bit port. While the 32-bit (x86) version continues to be developed, this release brings to you a complete port to 64-bit (x86_64). We know that many of you have been waiting eagerly for this, and once you try it you'll see it was well worth the wait.
Well here is to a new chapter in Slackware, if you are looking for a powerful distro look no further.
