Gigabyte GA-G1975X Review @ Hexus
Published: Monday, December 12, 2005 | By: DennisIntel has been rather quiet when it comes to chipset releases though I think we can blame the major hardware sites for also dropping the ball having been blinded by the nForce 4 and SLI chipsets.
"i975X isn't the first Intel chipset/motherboard to support multi-GPU rendering. The Intel D955XBK reference motherboard that we reviewed a while back took that honour. It supported ATI's CrossFire technology but not NVIDIA's SLI. That remains the case with the i975X. that is, immediate CrossFire compatibility but, as yet, no driver support to enable a couple of GeForce cards to run in tandem, and it's a shame that NVIDIA and Intel haven't been able to thrash out a deal that would see SLI run on a non-NVIDIA motherboard.
A new name goes along with immediate multi-GPU support from, initially, ATI. i975X, then, is a slight chipset tweak than a new launch, and we can appreciate why Intel has kept it under the press radar. "
I think we all know why nVidia isn't releasing any drivers for the Intel board; it would be in direct competition with their own SLI enabled chipset on the Intel side. -

Swiftech Storm G4 CPU Water Block Review @ PC Modding Malaysia

"STORM has been designed by and for the die-hard enthusiast user. The body is high-precision CNC machined out of Delrin, a rugged Acetal resin chosen for its long term mechanical stability, and the base plate is made of C110 copper lapped to +/- 0.0003" flatness. Cosmetics have not been forgotten either, and the universal hold-down plate features a beautiful chrome finish contrasting with the black body."
Based on the design you will need a powerful pump to get any benefit from the design. -

This board is by far one of the coolest A64 boards on the market though is only marketable to a select group of people that enjoy pushing their hardware to the limit and beyond. -
7800 GTX 512 spendy and is still unavailable

"VERY LIMITED Geforce 7800 GTX 512 cards are getting new sky high prices. Nvidia's suggested retail price was a sky hign $649 and now, if you can get them, easy mayor etailer such as American Newegg decided to earn some money on these cards. It's listing the cards at $749 and even at this price they are still not available."
It doesn't make much sense to raise the price on an item that you can't even buy, but what is worse is the poor shmuck that is willing to pay that much for a back ordered product. -
AMD stops production of Socket 939 Opterons

The complete stock of Opterons model number 14x and 16x (dual-core) dissapeared from e-tailers and retailers, with hundreds of overclockers buying even six or eight CPU's at the same time."
Just bought me one of them 940pin Opterons for a board review though had I been paying attention I would have easily bought a 939 as well.
My money is on an early M2 launch. -
Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI Motherboard @ Pro-Clockers

" The motherboard itself is racing red in colour, as are its additives, the sound card and SLI bridge. This all adds to the racy feel of the board."
On a side note what ever happened to the red LEDs on the back of the early boards?? I thought that was a pretty cool feature. -

The only drawback is the size of the radiator, a two fan unit will fit 80% of the mid tower cases out there without to much trouble but a triple fan unit takes some modding.
"Of all the components in this kit, this is the one you will need to take the most consideration in when it comes to mounting it; not because it is difficult endeavor, but because of the shear size of it (I’ve personally bracketed mine and hung it under the top of the stand my case sits on). Of course, being a triple radiator, and having six 120mm fans supplied speaks volumes to the intended performance." -

"Do you notice that AA SLI 8 and AA SLI 16 show around a 50% decrease in FPS than the rest of the AA settings? And do you remember that AA SLI 8 and AA SLI 16 rendered images which were visually the same as AA 8xS? I think this means we can forget about using either AA SLI 8 and AA SLI 16 because it shows no noticeable gain and sacrifices performance drastically."
