Alphacool Cape Red Water Cooling Kit @ nVPlanet
Published: Thursday, July 15, 2004 | By: DennisThis reviewer has a good modding sense and though I suspect the way the review panned out was a complete mishap it did turn out to look very good. If only we all could be so lucky.

"The Alphacool Cape looks awesome, all our connections are sealed. We are confident that the system is stable and ready for some performance testing. We used a stock Intel HSF, our in house watercooling kit and the Alphacool Cape. Let's go check out some temperatures."
According to their "real-world" testing results the Alphacool Cape is right on par with the asetek WaterChill. -
Powercolor Radeon X800 Pro @ OverclockersClub
Published: Thursday, July 15, 2004 | By: Dennis"When I opened the UPS box that contained the Radeon X800 Pro, I was expecting to see the normal retail type box that most ATI Radeon cards come in. Instead, I saw a black backpack with Powercolor's logo engraved on it. It probably took me five minutes to find all of the cables and the video card itself, because this bag has so many pockets!"
It's not every day you pay for a free backpack with your video card.

Doom 3 Has Gone Gold!!
Published: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 | By: Dennis"IT'S DONE!!!!!!!
Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing!
It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with
Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally
GOLD."
The peeps is saying Aug 5th, just two days after the previous "unofficial" release date but still out way before HL2.

Verax Polargate AL Review @ Frosty Tech
Published: Monday, July 12, 2004 | By: Dennis" A couple other insightful thermal design choices come into play, and add up to a nice thermal improvement over past Verax heatsinks, without much sacrifice on the noise front. The downside to all of this innovation is the Polargate's $149USD price tag, through North American distributor VeraxFans.com. There has always been a high premium on low noise cooling, but this may be hard for a lot of mainstream consumers to justify."
The thing looks pretty damn cool too, do check it out! -
Vantec iCEBERQ BGA Ramsinks @ hi-techreviews
Published: Monday, July 12, 2004 | By: DennisThese are a really hi-tech let me tell ya
.
"So we need a way to better protect our memory from overheating should we decide to push the limits of the memory. That is where the Vantec iCEBERG Copper BGA Ramsinks come into play, with this kit you are provided with 8 copper ramsinks which come with thermal tape pre-applied to the backs of each ramsink to make installation a snap."
CoolerMaster had something similar back in the day, not sure if the items are still part of their catalog or not but they did work quite well. -
Albatron K8X800 Pro II @ Lan Addict
Published: Monday, July 12, 2004 | By: DennisI recently revisited the Soltek SL-K8AV-R for a new review that is in the works and after flashing to the latest bios I am happy to report an almost 136 degree turn around in overclockability!
Check out the CPU-Z screenshot in the Ninjaforum (235Mhz FSB stable)
"The Albatron K8X800 Pro II is essentially the K8X800 with more bells and whistles. So if you like our review of this motherboard it might be worth checking out the standard K8X800 or K8X800 Pro in addition to this motherboard since they are strikingly similar."
No word on how their overclocking venture went. -
915 motherboards not expected until late July
Published: Friday, July 9, 2004 | By: Dennis"Although Intel has resumed deliveries of 915 chipsets, full availability of 915 motherboards in the channel is not expected until late July, according to sources at Taiwanese motherboard vendors.
In addition, the actual number of defective 915 chipsets might be higher than was previously estimated, which would delay production ramps at local motherboard makers, said the sources." -
SiS and XGI snap up graphics chip orders from Dell
Published: Friday, July 9, 2004 | By: Dennis"Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) and its 45%-owned affiliate XGI Technology have both reportedly received increased orders for graphics chips from Dell with volume shipments starting in the third quarter, according to sources close to the deals."
This part at the bottom is kind of funny.
"Dell’s increased orders will substantially boost XGI’s revenues in the third quarter, the sources added." -
DFI turns to ACP sales to generate revenues
Published: Friday, July 9, 2004 | By: Dennis"DFI Incorporated (formerly Diamond Flower Electric Instrument), a second-tier motherboard manufacturer in Taiwan, generated revenues of NT$100 million from sales of industrial-use ACP (applied computing platform) motherboards in June, according to the company."
Well you do that you can to make a couple bux here and there.
