  • Inno3D GeForce FX 5700 Ultra @ hardCOREware

Published: Monday, December 15, 2003 | By: Dennis

This card from Inno3D is super sweet looking though the reviewer isn't completely impressed with the card due to price.
"I am holding off from recommending the 5700 Ultra at this point; NVIDIA is simply shooting it down themselves. But as soon as it hits a decent price point - I'd say anything under $150 - then by all means go for it!

So for now, it looks like NVIDIA is going to dominate the upper mid-range, and mid-range segments, because of their strong work on the drivers!"

  • DFI LanParty nForce2 Ultra Reviews

Published: Monday, December 15, 2003 | By: Dennis

Found a couple reviews around the NFII Ultra B version today.

    - DFI NFII @ [H]ard|OCP
"The NFII ULTRA B surprised me with its overclocking potential. While I could not do it with my setup, Kyle was able to get the board booting in to Windows at a 250 MHz FSB, with the help of a Koolance EXOS water cooling system"
(I got the A version up to 250Mhz FSB on aircooling though was only stable enough for a few benchs)

    DFI NFII @ Envy News
"The LanParty nForce2 Ultra Revision B motherboard was made with the performance user in mind. The heat sink on the southbridge is only one of the many enthusiast-minded additions or revisions to this motherboard."
I wouldn't even call the (B) version a "revision" but a completely new board built from the ground up. (cept for the BIOS, the roots are the same. wink smile) Stay tuned for more on this board later directly from us.

  • Aqua Computing AquaTube Review @ GruntvillE

Published: Monday, December 15, 2003 | By: Dennis

Now here is one of the coolest water-cooling reservoirs that I have ever seen. The unit addresses the need for a res. in most water-cooling systems and does it with total and complete style. Check it out happy smile.
"The faceplate is optional, you can easily mount the Aquatube without it, but it adds a very nice professional touch. You simply screw it to the Aquatube using the included 5 screws and then there are 4 screw holes to mount the entire unit."

  • ATi Radeon 9600 XT Review @ Lan Addict

Published: Friday, December 12, 2003 | By: Dennis

Ever notice how Addict starts with ADD?? I wonder if there is a connection? wink smile
"The Radeon 9600 XT is ATi’s new mid-ranged video card targeted to the average Joe that doesn’t want to spend $500 on the Radeon 9800 XT so he can just play games at 300 frames per second (we don’t understand why he wouldn’t want to do that!)."
The ATI 9600 is a very good card and even though I recommend it to many of my friends I prolly wouldn't ever buy one, but that’s just me. tongue smile

  • Soltek SL-K8AN-RL Review @ PCStats

Published: Thursday, December 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Ideally, this board is targeted towards the mainstream Athlon64 user who's not into extreme [overclocking-based] performance, but simply wants a cost-effective solution which is quick. Soltek manage this, and if the thought of moving to the Athlon64 is on your mind, then the Soltek SL-K8AN-RL should make for a very good option without having to break the bank!"
Hardcore overclocking controls are missing from many Athlon64 systems and I am not really to sure why. Needless to say somone planning to overclock may want to look at something a little less expensive. wink smile

  • DangerDen RBX Waterblock Review @ PimpRig

Published: Thursday, December 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

PimpRig smacks around the DangerDen RBX and discovers that it really isn't that bad.
"The RBX is clearly the winner here, handily dispensing with the competition. The TC4 can hold its black anodized head up high though ..... very capable, and very cool. Just not as efficient as the RBX, and clearly out engineered!"
It does however lose out to the Cascade waterblock of similar design.

  • De-Riveting Guide @ hot-mods

Here is a really simple guide that shows you how to remove them pesky pop rivets from your case. This is one the basics to know when casemodding. Another basic is putting the thing back together. My recommendation, alu pop-rivets. big grin smile

  • CoolMax EL Serial ATA 150 Cable @ eXtremeReviews

Published: Thursday, December 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

"If you are like me, and are always searching for ways to make your computer's appearance better and more eye catching, you may be interested in this Neon Wire EL Serial ATA 150 Cable from CoolMax. This cable is not just an ordinary SATA cable but rather a cable which glows due to the EL (Electro Luminescent) wire."
This EL stuff is really hitting big in the computer modification field, all we need now is more colors happy smile
