  • More Webmaster Whining

Published: Monday, July 8, 2002 | By: Dennis

I posted this once before but it would appear that Kyle dug deep and found out why Matrox opted not to send him a sample for review.

"Matrox stated that due to the nature of our testing that they were not "comfortable" with sending us a Parhelia card. They seemed to think that we would be a bit too rough on the Parhelia and possibly show some issues that the "enthusiast" might identify as weaknesses."

Sounds to me that Matrox knew exactly what they where doing. Apply the bandage to your knee and move on.

This is entirely too much fun big grin smile

  • CyberHawk Dual Athlon & Matching Case

Published: Monday, July 8, 2002 | By: Dennis

For us english speaking folk a site like Akiba is all pictures wink smile. Some of you might remember my recent project Shuriken where I went a little overboard on color matching. Well this CyberHawk system follows the same idea but goes even further. The system includes, a modded red case, red PCB, red expansion slots, red memory slots, dual red heatsinks and fans. etc.....

  • Dual CPU

Published: Monday, July 8, 2002 | By: Dennis

I still say the 2 processors are better than one. Though you really need to think about how you use your computer before you up and spend the bux on a dually system. Word processing and web surfing do not require the extra horsepower.

" To summarize, SMP systems are a novelty that are only useful for those that use multithreaded applications on a regular basis, for example; Adobe Photoshop and Premiere as well as 3D-animation suites such as 3D Studio Max, Maya and LightWave. For those that think that SMP is a quick upgrade and yields better performance than a single CPU system we unfortunately have to tell you that this isn’t always the case and you might be better off upgrading your current system with a faster CPU or some other upgrades."

I would not fully agree with this statement, novelty??.

Soltek's software bundle rivals that of many video card companies except that they include system utilites instead of game demos, here is a clip.

"Soltek will add one more software to its bundled softwares, and there will be totally five softwares bundled with Soltek mainboards from now on. The five softwares are: Virtual Drive, RestoreIT!, PC-cillin 2002, PartitionMagic 6.0 SE, DriveImage4.0, and the total extra value will be more than USD$325! "

  • Samsung F.A. Porsche Design 171P LCD Review @ PC Stats

Published: Wednesday, July 3, 2002 | By: Dennis

I don't normally post LCD reviews but I really like how it was written, kind of reminds me of the Architecture theory/history classes I took in college.

Here is a quote of a quote.
"Each design remains faithful to the principle that "function determines form" and that good design "is not style imposed from without, but the expression of the innate life of the object, the striving to portray its functional essence". And, while all F. A. Porsche designs are based on the simple tenet that "form follows function", each creation invariably transcends it."

  • Serial ATA in July

Published: Wednesday, July 3, 2002 | By: Dennis

Digitimes is saying Serial ATA motherboards will be hitting the market this month but mainstream usage of the new technology won't happen until 2k3. This could be true, especially since I still have yet to find Serial ATA harddrives without a converter.
