  MSI has gone gun ho with the red PCB's after the release of the limited edition K7T, they now seem to have 4 motherboards using the red resist along with a MX400 video card.
  
  All things aside it would appear that we are on to something with this KT266A chipset, DDR memory scores are going though the roof.

• Removal of Floppy Bogus?

  A couple of days ago we posted that on a leaked document from Intel they had requested the removal of floppy drives and PS/2 ports. Today they respond by saying that the document was interpreted incorrectly. Instead Intel claims that they are giving mfg's and OEM's the option of not including the floppy drive and other legacy connections in their products in their new chipsets.

  I'm not a big fan of SIS chipsets but it is good to see an alternative to the Intel offering for the Pentium 4, and with a performance boost to boot. Kyle at [H]ard|OCP spoke of this chipset when he was on The Screen Savers and if SIS can get this chip to market it should do well.

• No More Floppy Drives?

  Here is an interesting bit of news. Intel wants to phase out the use of floppy drives by 2nd Quarter of 2002. Though that isn?t all either they are requesting that the PS/2 ports for Keyboard and Mouse be removed as well.

• AMD Blames Intel for 3Q Loss

  AMD projected a major loss for the 3rd Quarter and didn't blame it on the bad economy or even the Sept. 11th attack but rather is pointing fingers at Intel. Aggressive pricing and marketing drove the active selling price of processors down.

• New Soyo Dragon

  SOYO Computer, Inc announced a revised edition to the already popular K7V DRAGON the K7V DRAGON-Plus. The new motherboard will use the VIA Apollo KT266A chipset along with an enhanced memory controller to further boost performance. Other than that the Dragon will remain relatively unchanged.
  
  At this time I cannot confirm the press release on their websites so I'm uncertain as to when we can expect this new motherboard to hit the shelves.
