  • Pricecombat

I suspect that many of you have already seen this site but I'm going to share it anyway. In my email today (most of which is usually junk) I found this. PriceCombat. It seems that Pricewatch now has some competition. Curious I checked out the prices for a 128 megs of RDRAM and the lowest price was 109 bucks!!. Makes me think.. I might be able to afford that i840 dually board.

  • Tyan Tiger 200

Published: Sunday, November 12, 2000 | By: Dennis

I am really quite fond of Tyan products every motherboard that I have personally owned has been a Tyan. I was looking at the product matrix tonight and noticed a new dual based on the Via 133A chipset will be hitting the market sometime soon.
From the small picture on their site the layout seems very promising. The sockets are inline with each other (not like the VIA reference design) and is without an ISA slot. So far I have only seen one other motherboard similar to this, and is produced by a small company in Taiwan called Freeway Designs. From what I can tell the only difference is that the Tyan board is a nice rich green whereas the Freeway Designs board is a sexy red.

We can only hope that the Tiger 200 is nothing like the Tiger 133.

  • More Duals are here

Published: Thursday, November 9, 2000 | By: Dennis

I was browsing over at 2cpu today and found that they have indeed gotten a hold of the new dual board from epox

In the coming months there will be quite a few reviews of the dual processor boards that use the VIA chipset.
Believe it or not but there will be a review here at ninjalane.com as well.

Here are some specs of the new system I am putting together. Dual P3 800Mhz (cC0 core), GeForce2 Ultra (to be named), Inno3D MX card (for dual monitor support), 2 Maxtor ATA100 15gig drives on a RAID0 Stripe (unfortunately the dual board I am getting does not have onboard ATA100 or RAID so the controller card has yet to be named). The system should scream. More later when it becomes available.

  • New Opportunities for Ninjalane.com

Ninjalane.com will be undergoing a few changes in the following month. Some of which will be slight changes to the look of NL.com and finally more content.

Keep watch for the new things to come, and as always comments are welcome.

  • Nvidia MX card with DDR

Published: Monday, October 30, 2000 | By: Dennis

Saw this link at 2cpu.com. Seems that Creative is living up to their name and being.. well.. Creative. This time its by going above Nvida's current spec and putting DDR ram on a chip that was orginally designed for SDR ram.

  • Case Mod Update

The case mod has gotten off to a slow start but it is almost finished. It should be getting paint later this week and a final assembly on the weekend.

  • Quake Servers

Published: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 | By: Dennis

Sorry to say but the Quake servers have been taken down for awhile. I can't say when they will be back up. One server had hardware problems and will be moving sometime in the near future. The other server (quake3.ninjalane.com) got a nice upload cap placed on it, needless to say ping times are really bad.

    Sorry for the bad news.

  • New Case Mod on the way

Published: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 | By: Dennis

Yes its true, I have a new case mod in the works. For this project I will be taking the previously modified case my "god box" and will be fitting it with some serious cooling hardware.

I plan to set the Dremel in motion this weekend sometime and hope to have the pictures up the following week.
