After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Heatsink Install

So how does this thing get ins
First you need to remove the stock heatsink retention clip, most mfgs include their own backing plate but you will often find that the nuts on the other side do not stick up high enough to allow the Alpha to be installed, that was the case on our Soltek board. The posts shown in the photo are from the Cooljag back plate and illustrate the proper height needed for the Alpha installation.
Apply some thermal compound to the processor and install the heatsink making sure the mounting holes line up. Install the spring and mounting screw then tighten each in alteration one half to full turn until they stop.
Next you can install fan shroud, cooling fan and guard. Use the supplied screws and washers to secure everything in place.
Last hook up your fan and power the system on. happy smile
