After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Benchmarks - Overclocked

    Overclocking
Overclocking on the IS7 was a very pleasant experience and in a desperate attempt to reach 1000Mhz FSB with our OEM 3.0Ghz Pentium 4 I ran into a brick wall at around 235-240Mhz FSB.

The system would boot at 1000Mhz FSB with some major voltage adjustments, but due to heat and fear of melting our 500 dolla CPU it was decided to back the speed down to a respectable level. This proved to be a good move on our part since despite the system being very stable at 240Mhz FSB the Sisoft Sandra CPU benchmark would crash consistently. After further investigation it was discovered that if the FSB was set at or above 240Mhz FSB the benchmark would crash when the HyperThreading benchmarks were enabled.
Now despite the system being able to finish all but the CPU benchmark at 245Mhz FSB the Sandra scores were recorded at 235Mhz FSB.
    Wcpuid 240Mhz
    SiSoft Sandra @ 3.5Ghz
Memory scores are not as high was I would have expected due partially to the memory clock being set at 5:4. (((235 * 4)/5) * 2) = 376Mhz
