Board Layout & Features Cont.

Let’s look at the heatsink a little. DFI has changed the motherboard cooling option on the DFI LP DK X48-T2RS over the older DK X38 board. This time the heatsink is installed and ready to go. They are using an all copper heatpipe assembly that runs around the whole socket area. No more attaching a heatsink for us on this one.

Many people may not like that as much as it makes it extremely difficult to install an aftermarket cooler.  Instead of switching out the Northbridge cooler like before you’re swapping out Northbridge and MOSFET heatsinks to manage heat
As was mentioned before the DFI LP DK X48-T2RS uses DDR2 to keep the lower price point.  Supported ram options are of the DDR2 1066 variety but with a little tweaking higher speed ram modules can be used.

Next to the memory slots you’ll find the 24pin ATX power connection and single IDE port
Included Goodies
The LanParty Dark versions are more about being lower priced. The best bang for your buck kind of thinking. So you just don’t get as much as you would with higher priced motherboards. DFI includes a manual in many different languages, driver CD, raid driver disk, and quick cheat sheet for install.
DFI LP DK X48-T2RS comes with rounded orange cables of the following 1 Floppy, 1 IDE, and 2 SATA. This should be enough for most people to get started with. Last of all you get the ATX back plate.
