After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Board Layout and Features Cont.

One of the things we like to see is faster HDD connections, while hard drives are slow to keep up with the times the faster connections do help to reduce overhead and make things faster, if only by a little. The VNF4 Ultra supports 4 native SATA2 connections with a transfer speed of 3.0Gb/s. RAID is available thru nVidia RAID technology.
Standard PATA connections are still available however what we intended to show in this photo was the triple shot of fan headers, there are a total of 4 fan headers on this motherboard and all are rpm monitored in the BIOS.
The ATX connector is pretty standard. One of the best ways to see what features a board supports is by looking here. Out of the box the Chaintech NVF4 Ultra supports 4x USB2.0 (Expandable to 10), 1x Ethernet (Gigabit), 2x Serial, 1x Parallel, Keyboard, Mouse, and 7.1 Channel analog audio (No digital option onboard)
If you look carefully at some of the other Chaintech reviews you will see that they feature a Chaintech branded active cooling system for the MCP. This board on the other hand does not, considering how hot the MCP can get we strongly recommend that an active cooler be installed if you intend to do any kind of overclocking. Our cooling solution is in the form of a BFG GPU cooler that was modified to fit. Check the Ninjalane Message Forum for a photo how-to on this modification.
In the past all Zenith motherboards came with a great set of additional goodies like extra cables, front panels etc.. However being that this is a VE board the care package has been cut back to the bare essentials.
