After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Power connections

Hardwired we have the 24pin ATX cable that features the standard 20pin plug and additional 4pin connector.  These connections do not snap together so you will need to make sure they are inserted at the same time.  If you look closely you will notice 2 small tabs on the 4pin connector that are used to hold it down when properly installed.
The Silent Pro Gold comes with 2 sets of 8pin 12v CPU power plugs.  Many of the high end enthusiast motherboards come with multiple 12v connections to ensure there is enough power available under extreme overclocking conditions.

The final set of hardwired connections consists of 2 sets of PCI Express power connectors with 2 plugs per tail.  Many high video cards require both an 8pin and 6pin PCI power connection which can be accommodated with a single cable.  If you only require 2 6pin connectors simply remove the extra set of pins.
Modular plugs are rather limited and extend to include the following.
3x sets of SATA power connectors supporting up to 3 devices per tail.
2x sets of Molex power plugs supporting up to 2 standard devices per tail and a single floppy drive connection.
2x sets of PCI Express power connections that feature 2 connections per tail, 1x 8pin/6pin and 1x 6pin power plug.
