Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Flex Video Card Review

Conclusion

In the end the new Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Flex does not bring any new performance to the 5770 class of cards. What Sapphire has done though is made Eyefinity more open to the normal gamer on a tighter budget, and is very welcomed by more than just joe budget. The choices and/or lack of DisplayPort monitors has been pretty ugly and by allowing more freedom in your monitor choices opens the product line to more people with existing systems.  In a way this is how it should have been at launch, but not everything can be perfect all the time.

The Radeon HD 5770 is a favorite card among ATI fans and others for its great performance to price ratio. Being able to handle high game settings at 1080p helps to unlock visual quality in games that is normally reserved for much more expensive products.  Combine that with lower power consumption and you have a great card for upgrading an OEM system or a strong base for a scalable multi GPU gaming rig.

The only sour spot with Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Flex was the lack or any real overclocking potential. For the fabled Radeon HD 5770 has been known for great overclocking and to not be able to hit at the very least a 950 core speed is frowned upon by enthusiasts. Still, as with everything overclocked "your mileage may vary", and for us it did.
Good Things
Great power to performance ratio
Cool running chips
Great for gaming on a mid-range budget
3x DVI Monitor Eyefinity setup
4 Monitor Gaming (w/ DisplayPort)
Bad Things
Poor overclocking potential
