After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Gainward

Gainward is one of the most recognizable names in the graphics market and for good reason; they make an excellent line of video cards geared for both the mainstream and enthusiast users.
One of the stars in the Gainward booth was their new nVidia FX6800 Ultra (NV40) card. The custom Gainward cooler seen on the video card is based on a thin fin copper heatsink that covers the entire GPU and memory area. I am unsure if the green PCB will follow the card to production but the new cooler looks great.
A new NV40 version of the CoolFX system was on display. For those that are unfamiliar with the CoolFX it is the watercooled version of Gainwards high-end video card. The product comes complete with watercooling gear, GPU waterblock and higher default clock speed.. This particular version comes with a lighted window along the edge of the cooler.
PCI Express is one of the attention getters at this years Computex and it would seem that most of the major video card makers are onboard in some form to support the new connection technology. I'm not sure what chip this card is using but I find it just dead sexy. happy smile
I suspect that PCI Express won't really take off this year so you can expect to see a fair amount of AGP cards in the marketplace for quite some time. For that matter I doubt we will ever see the mainstream death of AGP for quite a few years.
