Uncorking KELPER - practical guide for beginners.@ KPC
Published: Friday, March 23, 2012 | By: DennisWho best to describe how to modify your GTX 680 than the guys who hit 1900Mhz core clock on the very same card.
Be careful, this mod is not for the faint of heart.
From my brief experience kepler does not need crazy voltage and current to run fast clockspeeds, we were able to hit 1350-1400MHz on aircooling with just VID mod to 1.3V on GPU. So I will describe modification of onboard power first, and then we will have some talk about external power module, on my example EVGA EPOWER 8-phase or 10-phase retail boards.
You can be assured that when the custom PCBs hit the market they undoubtedly integrate many of the same mods featured in this overclocking demonstration. Check out the article for more details and LOTS of pics.

Nvidia GTX680 Kepler GPU Launch Day - The new gaming king?
Published: Thursday, March 22, 2012 | By: DennisMarch seems to be the time to launch new Nvidia GPUs, it happened two years ago with the GTX 480 and again in 2011 with the GTX 590. Today we are faced with another windy spring March release of the most powerful and efficient GPU ever built.

Gigabyte Assassin 2 @ LanOC Reviews
Published: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 | By: DennisWhen it comes to great motherboards that are designed to be fast gaming powerhouses you have look at the G1 Killer line from Gigabyte. These boards feature a military theme and replace the sound and network PHY chips with high quality replacements from Creative and Killer that not only offload valuable CPU cycles but also make your games faster.

It seems almost like it was yesterday when I took a close look at Gigabytes Assassin, flagship motherboard on the X58 chipset. Here we are less than a year later with a new chipset and socket available. That means it’s time once again to take a look at Gigabyte’s flagship gaming motherboard, the Assassin 2 X79. With a lower price point, smaller form factor, and all of the features of the original we loved the Assassin 2 should be a great board. Of course we won’t know that for sure until we dig in a little farther, so let’s jump in!
X79 is the new performance king when it comes to workstation class hardware and does a pretty good job at playing games too.

Asus Crosshair V Formula Review @ HCW
Published: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 | By: DennisHere is a great motherboard for the AMD line of processors that combines stability and extreme overclocking into a single package. Sadly the review seems a little light on benchmarks but does represent the basics like PCMark and a few games.
Asus has combined a lot of extra hardware features and unique software to come up with one of the more interested motherboards we've come across in a while. Today we review the Crosshair V Formula, which is based on the AMD 990FX chipset.
Ninjalane also did a review of the Asus Crosshair V Formula and found it to be quite nice though has vowed to revist the review once the famed Bulldozer has been secured. (hasn't happened yet doh!)

Funky Kit Review: ASRock X79 Professional Motherboard
Published: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 | By: DennisASRock has been trying like crazy to find that one niche that will propel them out of the shadows and into the hearts of the hardware enthusiasts. Based on the review it would seem the design is right and they have the color scheme down.

If you are looking for a great overclocking board but do not want to spend a ton of money, this is your board. The X79 Professional easily exceeded my expectations for a board at this price. It easily gives boards that cost twice as much some real tough competition.
Funny thing is every time I show people the Foxconn X79 Quantumian they seem to think its an ASRock design, it must be the color.

NL: Review Block - Cases and Coolers 3/19/2012
Published: Monday, March 19, 2012 | By: DennisGoogle tells me that I need to write more when I do these review blocks since they tend "not" to index the links as text in the news post. So here goes.
In this review block we'll be looking thru the inbox for reviews related to computer cases and CPU coolers. Together they will make up the Cases and Coolers review block and hopefully give you something to click on while you are surfing around looking for products to make your life easier.
That is of course assuming you actually come to Ninjalane for the news, articles, projects, reviews and world class podcasts.

Gigabyte X79-UD3 Motherboard Review @ OCIA
Published: Monday, March 19, 2012 | By: DennisThis is really one of the more unique X79 boards on the market that not only can overclock but also supports 4-way graphic card setups.
Today we will be looking at an X79 motherboard from Gigabyte, the GA-X79-UD3. The UD3 represents Gigabyte's entry level model on the X79 platform but if processor price didn't already tip you off, LGA 2011 is an all-around expensive platform. For example, pricing on this entry-level board starts around $250 - more along the lines of what you'd expect to pay for a premium P67 board.
Be sure to check out our review of the Gigabyte X79 UD3 you might be suprised at the results.

Five Leadership Lessons From James T. Kirk
Published: Friday, March 16, 2012 | By: DennisHere is a candid look at leadership lessons you can learn from TV.
Kirk’s success was no fluke, either. His style of command demonstrates a keen understanding of leadership and how to maintain a team that succeeds time and time again, regardless of the dangers faced. Here are five of the key leadership lessons that you can take away from Captain Kirk as you pilot your own organization into unknown futures.
The lessons include:
- Never Stop Learning
- Have Advisors With Different Worldviews
- Be Part Of The Away Team
- Play Poker, Not Chess
- Blow up the EnterpriseI'm not sure if I totally agree with the last one, I mean what can you teach by blowing up the one thing that you need to succeed. I'm sure trekkies know the answer to this one.

AOL kills Instant Messenger - AIM
Published: Wednesday, March 14, 2012 | By: DennisThe first chat client I ever used was on AOL during the dialup landrush. It was actually quite fun since if you knew your friends AOL name you could chat with them whenever they were online. Of course the downside was using up your minutes waiting for them to come online or waiting for an email response.
It would seem the historic AIM client is finally getting the axe and will no longer be on their active development plan. There is no word as to how long it will be before the network is shut down or what will happen to their other IM properties such as ICQ.
Likely the very first non-email application you ever used to speak with your friends and relatives is about to be shut down for good, AOL Instant Messanger, aka AIM, has been all but slashed entirely from the AOL family. This application’s 40 employees in charge of development as well as everything outside of basic maintenance has been let go entirely. While support staff for the ecosystem will remain, no future upgrades to the software will exist from this point on.
I remember using AIM almost exclusively after ICQ lost its luster. Both of which were later replaced entirely by MSN Messenger which is my chat client of choice. Facebook and Google chat are difficult to ignore but I do my best to ignore that they exist.
