How Crytek doomed Crysis 2's PC version
Published: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 | By: DennisThis is a bit old considering that Crysis 2 has already been out for a few weeks now, but this is still relevant.
For starters, the game doesn’t support DX11. Although Crytek stated that they will address that via a patch, this is not what you, me and every PC gamer out there want to. PC gamers don’t want gimmick DX11 effects. As the game is not developed with the DX11 in mind, we won’t get the tessellation results of (let’s say) the Unigine ‘Heaven’ Benchmark. We are certain that when the DX11 patch gets released, Crytek will be stating how gritty those PC gamers are for pirating their game and how disappointed they are as they did what PC gamers asked for. This is not true however.
We were promised DX11, heck they designed the engine for DX11 but instead of branching the code or creating "switches" in the source based on gaming environment they released the next gen game with DX9 and lack luster system requirements. Talk about letting the world down.
btw I have been playing this game and despite the bitching about DX11 I like it, it has a good interface with a map you can wander around in. They did change some things from the previous Crysis but that is to be expected.

Babeology: The Stunning Tori Black
Published: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 | By: DennisOne of my favorite film stars in recent years has been Tori Black, and not really because she is an '"adult" film star but rather when I meet her in person the year before her career blew up she was clearly a regular gal and one of the nicest celebs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Keep up the good work Tori! (says the editor in hopes she might end up reading this
)
The leggy starlet stops by the Babeology studio for a sexy lingerie shoot. Brand new photos and hot new video.
I have said it before and will say it again. RAWR!!

AMD HD 6790 Launch Day - Reviews from around the web
Published: Monday, April 4, 2011 | By: DennisAMD HD 6790 Launch Day, this is a 150 dollar video card which turns out to have higher clocks than the 6800 series but with less shaders to keep performance down.
In recent months, we've seen AMD and NVIDIA go back and forth with releases that are designed to one-up the other at the respective price-point, and with AMD's Radeon HD 6790, it doesn't look like this game will end anytime soon. Set to compete against the GeForce GTX 550 Ti, the HD 6790 launches with the same MSRP of $149.-

KFA2 GeForce GTX 550 Ti White Edition LTD OC review @ Hexus
Published: Monday, April 4, 2011 | By: DennisNow this is a fun card, a nVidia GTX 550 Ti with a white PCB. We're not likely to ever see one of these cards in the US but I know what I'll be scouting for come Computex time.

Chasing the frequency dragon, the White Edition LTD OC, henceforth referred to as WELO, ships with a distinctive white PCB we first saw on the GTX 560 Ti card. It's therefore no coincidence that the WELO uses the same type of cooler as the more-powerful model.
They call this a WELO for some reason, can't exactly figure out why.

Gigabyte P67-UD7-B3 @ PureOverclock
Published: Monday, April 4, 2011 | By: DennisOne of the latest great motherboards from Gigabyte is the P67A-UD7 now in B3 trim that should resolve the SATA2 error prompting the recall.
Today we have the Gigabyte P67-UD7-B3, a flagship board that looks great and comes with some more features than what we see on the UD4 version. Coming with a price tag of about $329, the UD7 is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Does it measure up? Worth the cash? Let's take a closer look and find out
We have used this board quite a bit here in the lab, and even set a sizeable overclock of 5.7Ghz using a 2600K and Single Stage Phase cooler. Stay tuned we'll have a review posted in the next few days.

Secret Space Plane Cannot Hide Forever
Published: Monday, April 4, 2011 | By: DennisSpace travel after the shuttle program appears to be split between traditional rockets and robot space planes. While the new traditional rocket based vehicles have yet to be put into service the space plane is already making headlines.

The second time around was easier. The U.S. space plane was discovered just four days after it blasted into orbit, earlier this month. Cape Town, South Africa’s Greg Roberts — “a pioneer in using telescopic video cameras to track spacecraft, chalking up exceptional results over the years,” according to Space.com — spotted this second secret spacecraft, just like he found the first.
The X-37B has generated intense interest, long before it ever left the ground. Boeing originally developed the 29-foot unmanned craft — a kind of miniature Space Shuttle — for NASA. Then, the military took over in 2004, and the space plane went black. Its payloads were classified, its missions hush-hush.The missions are still a secret and will likely remain so until long after their military service has expired.

Homefront (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven
Published: Wednesday, March 30, 2011 | By: DennisI was extremely excited about this game. The backstory was awesome, the fact they hired the writer of Red Dawn to help with the storyline was the right move, but in typical game developer fashion they concentrated on the console aspects of gameplay and totally ignored what makes for a great PC game. At least from the single player aspect of the game.
The single player part of Homefront left me wanting more, A LOT more, the reason being that they spend a ton of time on the story but totally failed to deliver on that story. For instance on the Homefront website there is a map that explains what is going on in different parts of the country, Sadly you are not able to visit those parts or even have a mission there. Instead you are limited to breaking out of a town in Colorado to deliver fuel to the US Military in San Francisco. (spoiler blah) What happened to the irradiated Mississippi river?, or the mining camps? if you can't go there so why even mention it??
While I can agree with the views of GamingHeaven on this game I cannot even remotely support their rating of it
As we fired up the game we were greeted by one of the most amazing introductions to any game we've come across. The video documents the "past" 16 years up until the year in which the game is set, 2027 and it begins with various news flashes and headlines documenting the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, with the subsequent rise to power of the dictators son, Kim Jong Un. A revolutionist, the youngster manages to unite both North and South Korea, forming the Greater Korean Republic. At the same time as the rise of Korea we witness an America gripped in crisis, oil shortages have ravaged the military thanks to an on-going war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
I will still suggest that everyone play Homefront and try out the mulitplayer but buy the game because it's a different take on the FPS shooter genre and not because you are looking for something more than your standard shooter since it hardly delivers the story it promises.

OC3D: MSI Big Bang Marshal P67 Review
Published: Monday, March 28, 2011 | By: DennisOut of everything that MSI makes this one board really caught my attention this year at CES, but I am also a sucker for the overkill.
. The review, if you can call it that, is extremely short but does cover all of the features of the board, minus how MSI opted to split up the PCI Express lanes to accommodate 4 full video cards.Regardless they seem to like it, lets hope future reviews include a little more information.
Today we're taking a look at the latest high-end motherboard from MSI, the Big Bang Marshal. How does it perform?
We do hope to get a sample of this board in for testing, just as soon as they go on sale.
