MSI RTFM-chip Details Reveiled!
Published: Thursday, March 25, 2010 | By: WillWell here is something that just landed in my inbox today. Not totally sure if this it true or not, but the source seems genuine to me.
The MSI-forum and MSI-support team are fed-up with explaining you what can be found in the manual. I mean, come on, how hard is it to read a manual?
They are printed on paper so you see them.
We have been talking to MSI for a couple of years and came up with a solution.
It has been implemented on a few boards for some time and with big success.
It had various names, like CoreCenter (1st gathering tool) upto DrMOS (fully automatic)
Some of you noticed because Windows wanted you to install a driver, but you couldn't find the manufacturer.
On AMD systems this was called the Away-driver.
What you didn't know is this, this driver activates the RTFM-chip. (Re-Turn inFormation to Manufacturer chip)
It means it can detect if you read a manual as well stores the parameters you have set in the BIOS. As soon as you start Windows we are informed about your settings and manual readings.I'm not sure if this is a good way for MSI to be making friends with it's customers. Read the rest of this post and get the full story to understand what they are doing. On top of that is it really that big of a deal? Go to the forum and post your thoughts here.
Update: Looks to be a joke, but it has gone pretty ugly, pretty fast. It made for a good read and laugh.

Published: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 | By: DennisThe Gulftown processor was released not to long ago to the joys of many an enthusiast, and why not? The processor comes with 6 processor cores w/ hyperthreading and a nice large L3 cache for some serious data processing.
The guys at Technic3D went so far as to overclock the processor to 4.4Ghz which is no small feat on the Nehalem Architecture.
The Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition CPU arrived Technic3D. We will check the new Gulftown 32nm Six-Core CPU from Intel against the Intel Core i7 975 Extreme, AMD Phenom II 940/965 and more on Windows 7 and Linux . Overclocking over 4,4 GHz with Air-Cooling and more see you in the following Review.

Nvidia initial batch of GeForce GTX 400 series to have fewer cores than expected
Published: Monday, March 22, 2010 | By: DennisDigitimes is always a wealth of information and collecting pot of industry rumors, and truth.

Nvidia's initial batch of GeForce GTX 480/470-based graphics cards will have fewer cores than the originally expected 512 due to low 40nm yield at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), according to sources from graphics card makers.
Since TSMC's 40nm yield currently is still lower than 50%, Nvidia will block some of the graphics cores with problems on the card. As a result, the GeForce GTX 480 will only have 480 cores and GTX 470 only 448, the sources noted.
I wouldn't rule out that something other than "yield" is afoot here since there could be a variety of factors involved. The truth of the matter is we may never know. This new GPU is very complex and should be one of the fastest GPUs on the planet when its finally released.
Bottom line, I'm not sure it's worth stressing over 32 cores. -

NL: PC Game Reviews Roundup
Published: Friday, March 19, 2010 | By: WillHere is a few more games for the PC gamer to check out. Might be something interesting that our readers might like.
Metro 2033 Shooter (PC) @ TweakPC
"Metro 2033 is the first game from 4A-Games, but with a STALKER-Team and the book as a draft it should be successful. We put on the tunnel vision and played the game."
F.E.A.R. 2 - Project Origin @ ocaholic
"Alma has grown up but she doesn't know that. The successful horror shocker F.E.A.R. goes into the next round and its publisher promises loads of action and moments which make the blood in you veins freeze. Also the story should be good and disgned like a puzzle it should be fun to discover the different pieces. Sounds like a nice approach then but what F.E.A.R. is really like that's what we'll show you on the following pages."
