At Computex 2009 this year Ninjalane was very impressed with the new stuff on the horizon from MSI. Here is a review of the new AMD 790FX-GD70 motherboard that looks great, and the layout is just about perfect.

Our review of the 790GX-G65 left us with a nice taste in our mouth. Made us want the dessert of MSI motherboards. Well in this case, careful what you wish for because you just might get it! Today we are reviewing MSI's latest in AMD motherboards; The MSI 790FX-GD70. There where a few things that snagged us from before and MSI fixed all these little problems in their enthusiast board and even added a whole lot more that we didn't expect. From nice little knobs that overclock for you to extra voltage controls all the way to quad crossfire support, they give it all. When you open it you just expect great things. Well lets go take a look.

What can I say I also like the darker colors on a motherboard.big grin smile

  • NL: PC Game Reviews Roundup

Published: Tuesday, June 9, 2009 | By: Will

It has been a little while since we looked at some of the PC game reviews out there. So let's take the time to look over a few.

H.A.W.X. PC Game Review @ TestFreaks

"When you hear the name Tom Clancy, you think of his books first and then a very close second, the games that bear his name. The majority of his games, like the Rainbow Six collection are all about teamwork, stealth and tactics. The game I have for review today veers a bit off from the norm of his games, it’s called H.A.W.X. and it’s a flying game, not a flight simulator, more of an arcade style combat flight game. H.A.W.X. is set in the near future where corporations have basically replaced government run military in many countries, they’re mercenaries essentially.  "

    Helldorado (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven

"Helldorado is the sequel to Desperados, an action strategy game set to appeal to diehard fans of the franchise... for the rest of us however the game has one or two shortcomings which might be a deal breaker."

Tunnel Rats (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven

Tunnel Rats tells the story of an American soldier in the Vietnam War. His helicopter is shot down and he enters into a one man rampage through Vietnam while trying to escape the hostile environment and the aggressive Vietnamese soldiers.

  • Computex coverage on its way

Published: Friday, June 5, 2009 | By: Dennis

Well its Saturday afternoon here in Taiwan which also marks the last day of Computex.  The last day is typically the one that is also open to the public making the show floor extremely crowed.

For us Computex was extremely productive, we had some great meetings with everyone we had intended to contact including some that should materialize into additional support for Ninjalane.com.  Computex did appear to be noticeably smaller this year.  Several companies didn't have show booth while others decided to take advantage of the marketing opportunity and invest a lot of time and effort into the show.

For instance Foxconn had a huge booth last year complete with overclockers and lots of LN2.  This year they resorted to having only a VIP suite in the Hyatt that was only open to Sales.  Being that I have connections you can expect an exclusive Foxconn product tour come next week  happy smile

  • ASUS Mars GTX 295 SLI with 8GB RAM + Far Cry 2160p @ TweakTown

Published: Thursday, June 4, 2009 | By: Will

Computex 2009 is going strong, and Ninjalane is loving this year the most. By the way the looks of it are going so is everyone else hitting the show.

"Computex Taipei 2009: When you visit a company at a trade show like Computex, there is always one truly standout product for us and for ASUS this year out in Nangang it was its Mars GTX 295 demo.

What's special about the ASUS Mars GTX 295? Well for starters each is a limited edition and labeled as such and each comes with a massive 4GB of onboard video memory. Double them up in SLI and of course you have 8GB of video memory which is much more than the average user has of actual system memory."

Can you say OVERKILL MUCH!big grin smile

  • Asus Maximus II Gene @ Bjorn3D

Published: Thursday, June 4, 2009 | By: Will

Looks like everybody is getting onboard with a Micro-ATX board that can beat any big boy boards. Asus has just kicked another one of these beasts out for everyone to enjoy. Let's see how the guys reviewing like it.

The Micro-ATX boards wiht huge features are all the rage, and Asus looks to have one awesome beast on there hands. Let's see what the guys reviewing it thinksSince the introduction of Intel's new Core i7 CPU's, we were all amazed at its performance it offered us. At the same time we were all shocked at the cost it would cost us to upgrade to this newer standard, ranging anywhere from 800-1200 USD at a minimum. With the cost of this new CPU standard in mind, lot of people decided to hold on to there Intel socket 775 platforms, which still proven to be a good solid platform for gaming and anything we saw fit for the use of our computers with out the large expense of moving to a entirely new CPU socket and motherboards, including memory.

With all of this in mind, it is good to see manufacturers like ASUS still working hard on improving the Intel socket 775 CPU's. Like its bigger brother the ASUS Rampage II GENE motherboard, the Asus Maximus II GENE motherboard is a micro ATX form factor, but with a couple of difference's, the Maximus II GENE motherboard supports the Intel socket 775 CPU's, dual channel DDR2 memory, and it uses the P45 Eaglelake chipset, paired up with a ICH10R south bridge, with a few extra's added we seen with the Rampage II GENE motherboard.

I will admit I want one real bad! That ugly addiction just keeps coming back.big grin smile
