Intel's wall of P55 Express mobos caught on video @ TweakTown
Published: Wednesday, June 3, 2009 | By: WillComputex 2009 is going on right now, and the buzz is starting on the Core i5 processors. So here is a video of a quick look over a bunch of P55 motherboards.
"Computex Taipei 2009: We made a stop at the Intel booth out at Nangang earlier today and what got our attention was its wall of P55 Express based motherboards for the upcoming Lynnfield "Core i5" processors, if they'll even end up being called that.
We asked Intel to give us a rundown of P55 and the partner boards on display, but it seemed like they were all too scared to talk us. I guess Intel has too many rules when it comes to talking to media. That was a bit of a shame, but we managed to produce a short video of the mobo wall and you get a look at a range of upcoming boards from the likes of ASUS, GIGABYTE, DFI, MSI and so on."Enjoy!

Microsoft Unveils Project Natal a 3D Motion Sensing Camera
Microsoft, in an attempt to challenge the Wii motion remote, has
unveiled a new 3D motion capture camera that integrates full-body
motion into the Xbox 360 game console. Code-named Project Natal, the
3D camera is able to translate movements into onscreen play - without
even holding a remote or device in your hand. Furthermore, the XBox
360 3-D motion sensing camera is also able to recognize facial and
speech movements that allow a more personalized experience with the
gaming console. A video demonstration shows a kid telling the xbox 360
to "take picture" and the camera took a picture of each side of his
real skate board in a few seconds. A few seconds later, the kid was
flipping through skateboards in a skating game and selected the one he
just imported with the picture and began skating with it. -

Being who I am though I like to know things, so I decided to run a whole bunch of tests before and after the upgrade and compare them to see just what, if anything, might have changed. "

News and Computex Updates

As some of you may know I'm in Taiwan again covering Computex which is a day ahead and 12 hours different from my normal schedule. Whenever possible I'll be posting direct news updates of cool stuff but that will not always happen so be patient and keep checking back.
The current plan is to have daily coverage like before but depending on what goes on after the show that may or may not happen. Seems with every Computex I attend I get yet another after show party invite.
. (I'll try posting some infor about these parties as well) Also if there is something you have heard about and want to see more drop by the Ninjalane Message Forum and let me know. I'll be checking it from time to time..

A closer look at fresh versus used SSD performance

The block rewrite penalty inherent to flash memory has interesting performance implications for SSDs. As we've discovered, some SSD controllers cope much better than others when facing well-used drives.
I'm still on the fence, the SSD stuff is pretty cool but not so much mainstream yet.
