  • Mushkin Ascent XP3-14400 CL8 2GB Kit @ techPowerUp

    Badass black is back!

The Ascent series from Mushkin represents their high-end line-up with thick eVCI heatspreaders, very tight timings and fast speeds. On top of that, the memory scales extremely well with voltage and has plenty of potential for overclockers

Now all we need is Muskin to send us a set big grin smile

  • Corsair 6GB DDR3-1866 Dominator GT Memory Review @ Legit Reviews

Published: Wednesday, April 1, 2009 | By: Dennis

On the i7 6GB is the way to go, not only are these kits getting extremely cheap but the extra memory headroom does wonders for performance.  Sadly you do need to be running 64-bit to take advantage of the extras when running Windows.

For the average consumer the Corsair DDR3-1866 Dominator GTs would be overkill; for the price of this one kit you could purchase 12GB of decent DDR3-1600C7. But those 12GB of DDR3-1600C7 may only overclock to the stock speeds of this Dominator GT kit. This is what you are more or less paying for - the binning process Corsair has undertaken to insure these kits are stable at 1866MHz...
  • Gigabyte EX58-UD4P @ Techgage

Not sure about you but I do have a soft spot for the soft glow of a blue motherboard but only when the colors are "dark", the baby blue just doesn't do it for me.

The board does seem to clock well.

At CES earlier this year, Gigabyte showed off two new motherboards that promised both a great value and of course, good overclocking abilities. The EX58-UD4P was one of those, and we've now been able to put it to the test. We're happy to report that as we had hoped, the board delivers on all fronts, and coupled with a reasonable price, it looks to be well-worth a look.
  • And the fools come out.

Published: Wednesday, April 1, 2009 | By: Dennis

I'm sure that many of you have already had your fill of april fools jokes and since you really can't trust any news that comes out on (4/1) we're likely going to refrain from posting anything news worthy.

However since this is the season for jokes and stuff I present you with the famed april fools gag that was pushed out back in 2007.  This little joke was 2 years in the making and went off without a hitch and was still pranking people for weeks after.

You see the joke was really on lazy news posters that just post links in the news all day and don't bother to read what the review is all about.  Of course the unsuspecting casual web surfer might clue in that its a joke right away.  (notice the l33+ in the title)

    Hope you enjoy happy smile

Ty4n Trinity Review: Bringing Extreme SLI to the AMD platform

Well we here at Ninjalane have come across a real gem in the motherboard world that comes to us in a time where enthusiast and system builders need integration more than brand loyalty. You see late in 2006 during the height of the SLI vs CrossFire wars. Prototype board maker Ty4n created a motherboard that uses the better parts of both technologies for even better performance.
  • AMD Phenom II X4 810 Review @ ModReactor

Published: Monday, March 30, 2009 | By: Will

Soon enough here at Ninjalane we will be drumming up some noise for the new Phenom II processors. While you wait take a good look at this review.

"Release of the first 45nm quad core AMD processors - Phenom II 940 and 920 in the beginning of the year was the most important event for the company and was the first significant success for the company processor division in quite a while. The new processors offered splendid performance for their price, and users still could
use them with their good old cheap AM2/AM2+ motherboards along with their also old and cheap DDR2 memory. Now it's time to review the first AMD processor supporting the new AM3 platform, namely - AMD Phenom II 810 with operational frequency of 2.6GHz and very budget orientated price."

These look to be pretty good.happy smile

Grand Ages: Rome (PC) Review @ Gamingheaven

Grand Ages: Rome is the followup to Glory Of The Roman Empire and Imperium Romanium from developer Kalypso Media. Both of these were pretty much run of the mill city building titles so we will find out today if the new game is going to be a more appealing investment.

Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway PC Review @ Gamepyre

If one is to count all the deaths (military and civilian) as a result of WWII the number would raise in the millions. Soldiers fought and solders died and I'm glad that Hollywood and the video game community come up with new WWII projects all the time because "those that don't know the history are bound to repeat it." Us, the younger generation, while our hearts may be sympathetic, we will truly never understand the pain that our ancestors went through to secure our freedoms. We get to watch the movies and we get to play the games because someone that we don't know and will never know bleed for such rights. Respect and honor is what those brave souls earned and games like Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway, as much as they entertain us, they also help us remember our true heroes.

  • AsylumLAN 33 @ Techgage

Published: Thursday, March 26, 2009 | By: Dennis

We've been having quite a few lanparties in the various Ninjalane locations, looks like we'll need to have another one.

Ahh, nothing beats a good LAN party. Sitting back, chilling with friends, drinking a lot of Bawls and of course, getting hundreds of frags in... there's nothing quite like it. We made the trip to Evansville, Indiana recently to game it up at AsylumLAN's 33rd event. This is not the first AL we've attended, and we can honestly say... this one keeps getting better.

Seems that Indiana is the gaming capitol of the midwest?

  • A trio of affordable Core i7 motherboards @ TechReport

Published: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 | By: Dennis

We do love Core i7 here at Ninjalane however we will admit platform is pretty expensive to get into.  Boards and processors are expensive and since Core i7 uses a lower voltage DDR3 module you'll need a new triple channel DDR3 kit as well.  Luckily memory prices have come down crazy fast so that part is easy.

The first wave of Core i7 motherboards were prohibitively expensive, but a new batch has arrived that brings prices down to the $200 range. Join us as we take affordable X58 motherboards from Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI for a spin to find out which is best for a budget.

Sadly DFI and Foxconn are not in this roundup, but then again they are on the upper end of the price spectrum.

One stable in the world of computers is the need for a heatsink.  In reality you shouldn't need a heatsink but as processors get faster and consume more power they tend to produce more heat.
