Pirate Bay P2P Trial Begins in Sweden
Published: Monday, February 16, 2009 | By: WillHere is something for all of you P2P guys need to be watching. If this thing goes down in a bad way. Well it is going to get real ugly for all BitTorrent folks everywhere.
"The Pirate Bay's copyright infringement trial is now under way in
Sweden, becoming one of the most watched P2P trials. The site is
accused of helping users illegally downloaded movies, music, computer
games, and more from its web site. If the site owners are convicted,
they could spend two years in prison and a fine around $150,000. In
addition, many of the leading companies in the motion picture
industries are wanting an additional $14.3 million. The Pirate Bay is
the world's largest source for BitTorrent trackers, while they do not
host illegal content they do provide a means of finding such content.
In May 2006 the company was raided by Swedish police who seized their
servers and in January of last year the owners were charged with the
copyright infringement."I got my popcorn. Let the show begin.

U.S. video game sales show continued strength
Published: Friday, February 13, 2009 | By: DennisSAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - U.S. sales of video game hardware and software rose 13 percent in January from a year earlier, led by Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii console and DS hand-held systems, market researcher NPD said on Thursday.
The results presented more evidence that even in the middle of a brutal economic downturn, U.S. consumers are willing to spend on video games.
Total industry sales in the month climbed to $1.33 billion, NPD said. All the people that are getting laid off need to have something to do. Speaking of... who wants to LAN at the end of the month?

Cooler Master Storm Sniper @ Swemod
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: DennisThis is one of the latest cases to come out of the Cooler Master lab and features an oversized power button and top mounted dial next to the front panel connectors. The dial is of course a fan controller, I would expect other mfgs to be offering similar things in the not too distant future.
On the front of the case we can find in the top the logo of the case, “Sniper”. Moreover we see that the front bays are made out of mesh metal pieces and we have a total of five bays, with the last one doubling as a 3.5 inch bay.
In the front at the bottom we see another honeycomb mesh metal piece and behind this we find a fine masked fan filter, which may prove to be a bit difficult to clean as you have to remove the honeycomb mesh before you get to the fine masked filter. If you like photos you'll love this review, lots to see

NL: Gaming Review Roundups

Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven
Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty - and with the Slash guitar riff the newest Electronic Arts game makes its entrance on the PC platform. The game is set in the fictional setting of Paradise City and it is up to you to win races, take shortcuts and reach the finish line faster than anyone else. Winning Challenges gets you new rides and better licenses to take on more difficult challenges. Has this console favourite made a good entrance to the PC market?
Far Cary 2 Reviewed @ TheTechLounge
"Far Cry 2 is a game where you kill people for three things: diamonds, malaria pills, and fun. You're a Doom Guy in search of one man in the middle of an African shitstorm that's full of people who could care less and people who can do more. You're not there to solve problems, unless the problem is that someone stands breathing. And yeah, you got the marsh fever."

Intel 32nm Westmere Desktop Processor Roadmap Exposed @ Legit Reviews
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: WillThe one great thing about computer hardware is even in ugly economic situations. We still get to see cool new stuff coming out at rapid speed.
"The first Intel 32nm Westmere products will feature both a processor core and an integrated graphics & integrated memory controller on a single processor. What makes this design so interesting is that the processor core is 32nm and that the memory controller and integrated memory controller are on a separate 45nm die. Intel has perfected the 45nm process since they have been doing it so long they have made the gates inside the processor perform better. Since the integrated graphics and memory controller is located on a separate die it is rumored that you can adjust the power settings and clock frequencies better than on one die. Intel took their current 65nm integrated graphics technology and shrunk it down to 45nm and added all the performance tweaks to get even more performance..."
I just got my i7 920, and I already want one of these new guys.

10 Weird and Wild USB Devices @ Digital Trends
Published: Tuesday, February 10, 2009 | By: WillHere is a fun little guide of goofy things to get for you USB ports. On a serious note though I want the Stars Wars thumb drives. That is now on my official list of crap I want.
"You've no doubt connected your digital camera to your computer to download photos or have inserted a little black thumb drive to store or retrieve files. But rejoice - the USB port can be used for so much more, thanks to its ability to suck electricity through your computer, powering some of the world's strangest devices. Following are ten of the cutest, silliest and most useless examples we could find. As a fun game at home, try playing along by suggesting your own examples: You'll be amazed at mankind's capacity for ridiculousness. Oh, how we cry for the poor children."
This is a great little guide, but they missed the mark big time. Where is the USB Happy Humping Dog.

Valentine's Day Tech and Gadget Gift Guide @ Digital Trends
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: WillHere is some techie gift ideas. I know many of us need these guides to keep us out of the dog house on Valentine's Day.
"Chocolates, roses and fancy dinners are played out. OK, well maybe not fancy dinners. The point is, just because Hallmark and company have convinced you to crack open your wallet on (or preferably before) Feb. 14, doesn't mean you need to squander those dollars on something cheap, pink, and bound for the garbage in 24 hours. Take a chance to show your creative side and get your significant other something he she might really be able to use with some of our techie gift suggestions."
I think I saw a few pink items in the AVN 2008 article.

ATI RADEON HD 4830 Video Card Review @ PCShopTalk
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: DennisWe have just started to get into video card reviews "again" here at Ninjalane so you should start seeing more of these types of reviews in the future.
For this test I have used the fan at 40% from Catalyst Control Center and I was impressed to see how cool this card stays at IDLE, considering that the fan is much smaller that a dual slot design. Also, at full load for 5 minutes, the card stabilized at the 73.5 degrees Celsius value, which is more than fine."
Then again you'll need to come back to know for sure.
