Antec Super LanBoy Review @ Hardware Accelerated
Published: Wednesday, July 21, 2004 | By: DennisA good friend of mine bought one of these cases, its very light and easy two work with though once you install a system, watercooler and 3 HDDs the case isn't very light anymore.

"Being a college student I can say the worst part of moving in is relocating my computer and monitor. Making sure it's packed just right, and making sure it doesn't obtain any scratches or imperfections. Not an easy job. And with LAN parties becoming even more popular, there is a growing need for lighter weight cases"
I never liked the mesh/glowly fan thing on the front, just seems like a silly addition. -
Corsair TwinX Vs. PDP Patriot @ GuruReview
Published: Wednesday, July 21, 2004 | By: Dennis"A few weeks ago Corsair released their “Xtreme Latency” range of RAM which boasts the ultra low latencies of 2,2,2,5 at clock frequencies of 200MHz (DDR400). Corsair also claim this RAM is capable of 250MHz (DDR500) with relaxed timings of 2.5,3,3,7, this was something I was unable to find out due to other limitations which I will discuss further on."
Timings can be rather picky depending on what platform you are running. AthlonXP systems don't really have a problem though many Ahtlon64 systems aren't setup to adjust the memory timings so overclocking becomes rather difficult. -

Old Sk00l Block - 0 - R3vi3w5
Published: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 | By: DennisWatercooling has really started to catch on though depending on what you are planning to do with your system care needs to be taken in what system you get.
- AlphaCool Cape Watercooling System @ XYZ Computing
- Kingwin Arctic Liquid Cooling Kit @ Overclocker Cafe
- Dangerden TDX @ Red & Blackness
- Swiftech 8600 Liquid Cooling Kit @ OCIA
- VoyeurMods Frostbyte H20 @ GruntvillE
Of the "stuff" listed I'd prolly go after the TDX and build your own system but if you are just looking to make your system a little quieter and don't overclock or run a fast processor the other "kits" may work just fine.

Doom 3 System Requrements
Published: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 | By: DennisFor all of you waiting to get your hands on the latest id game you should check to see that you have everything you would need.
"There's that glassy stare, the twitchy hands, jumpiness, maybe even a little drooling and certainly some muttering. It's what happens when id Software says "It's done!" with its latest first-person-shooter title."
-- snip --
"Todd Hollenshead, id's chief executive, said Doom 3 will require:
• A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
• 384 megabytes of memory.
• Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
• An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.
If your existing rig doesn't meet these specs, here's a guide to beefing it up to play Doom 3 in all its gory glory."
Looks like that 6800 Ultra isn't "needed" but what kind of gamer would be if you didn't have one.

NL: Review Block - Case Reviews
Published: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 | By: DennisThe one thing about cases these days is that it's becoming increasingly more difficult to find a good case suitable for modding. Often times you find cases that are attempting to be something they are it with huge plastic extrusions or cases that are covered with windows and cheap custom paint. These cases never have thick enough metal to mod with and just feel flimsily.
I say bring back the cases of old, we need good metal, unique but conservative styles, and removable parts like motherboard trays and front panels.

- Aerocool JetMaster Jr @ 3DXtreme
- Thermaltake Tsunami Dream @ Barrys Rigs
I will admit the CoolerMaster Stacker is pretty dang cool but hella huge.

Published: Friday, July 16, 2004 | By: DennisThe numbers quoted in the article are in Taiwanese NT Dollars, divide by 30 and you will get a "close" US equivalent.
"A number of second-tier Taiwan motherboard makers were still operating in the red in the first half of this year despite increased shipments amid strong PC demand, according to sources at the makers.
Companies likely to suffer losses in the first half include Epox Computer, Soyo Computer, Chaintech Computer and Albatron Technology, the sources noted." -
Intel to Decide if on Alviso Delay
Published: Friday, July 16, 2004 | By: Dennis"Intel is likely to officially announce in the next few days whether to delay the launch of its Alviso chipset to the first quarter of next year, one quarter later than it originally planned, according to sources at Taiwanese makers and brand vendors like Dell and Hewlett Packard (HP).
A delay would confirm a DigiTimes June 16 report.
A delay has been expected since Intel informed local makers in late June that it found some problems in the extended VGA functionality of its PCI Express-enabled Sonoma-based platforms, the sources said."
For those that don't know the Alviso chipset is the moble edition to the current DDR2 line of Intel chipsets (Alderwood and Grantsdale)
