GeForce 6800 Ultra Review @ NordicHardware
Published: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 | By: DennisWell its NDA gone day in the nVidia Camp so expect to see a bunch of NV40 Reviews. Here is one from Nordic Hardware
"GeForce 6800 Ultra is, as expected, the fastest graphics card we have ever reviewed here at NordicHardware. The increase in performance over the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra is everything from a few percent up to over 100 %. The differences will become even more remarkable when we get more DirectX9 tests."
Just about everyone is saying the same thing. -
GeForce 6800/6800 Ultra: photos and specs
Published: Tuesday, April 13, 2004 | By: DennisThe NV40 comes out in a couple of days, and based on the specs I can't wait to get my hands on one.
"A number of Chinese and Korean resources informed on specs and published photos of NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU:"
Just 3 photos but they tell the story of a single slot nVidia solution with a massive heatpipe enabled heatsink. -

Radeon 9800 2 Fer
Published: Tuesday, April 13, 2004 | By: DennisThe 9800XT is the current king of video performance, at least for the next couple of days.
- PowerColor Radeon 9800XT Review @ HardwareHell
- ATI Radeon 9800XT @ 3DXtreme
I personally don't own a 9800 but you never know that could change, though is not likely. -
3-Way GeForce FX 5700 Ultra Mini-Roundup @ HardwareZone
Published: Tuesday, April 13, 2004 | By: DennisNormally a 3-way doesn't include video cards but there are plenty of creative people out there. Who knows it could happen to you.

"Gainward's Golden Sample edition graphics cards such this particular PowerPack Ultra/960, have an Enhanced Operation mode via their ExperTools software utility. If you choose normal installation, the card will be set to operate at the default operating frequencies. However, one can set these modes anytime within the ExperTools utility. In Enhanced mode, the new operating speed is 500/950MHz."
I've always liked Gainward video cards, it is just too bad Gainward doesn't like me, yet. -

Finally Discovered FarCry
Published: Monday, April 12, 2004 | By: DennisThis was just way TOO funny to pass up.
"I am not a game reviewer, but I do know what is bad, what is good, and what is great. FarCry is easily "great.""
Don't worry, we all forgive you, btw Biff will be over later for a little head door knocking action.

Nvidia sets NV40 launch date
Published: Friday, April 9, 2004 | By: DennisWhoooo! This is kind of old news but still pretty dang cool.
"Nvidia has set the launch date for its latest AGP8X chip, the NV40, on April 14, aiming to penetrate the high-end market of around US$499, according to sources at Taiwanese motherboard makers.
ATI is likely to debut its next-generation AGP8X chip, the R420, on or around April 26, said the sources."
Very short and sweet, the remainder just shows a chart with the proposed video card names. -
Nvidia NV40 unchallenged in the power race
Published: Thursday, April 8, 2004 | By: DennisWe're not talking graphics power but rather power going to the graphics. Its a good read be sure to check it out.
"Nvidia will win one race hands down, the power race. I am sure you have seen the pictures of the NV40 boards floating around here and there, and saw the two molex connectors sticking off the back. If this didn’t clue you in, let me tell you right out, Nvidia will be unchallenged in the power race."
The last paragraph is the kicker.
"What I mean is that if you deliver, you are effectively dangling a shiny thing in front of the public, and they overlook the occasional wart. Nvidia has a whopper of a shiny thing here, what was that about power again?"
Oh so true it is.

R420 Gets a Name and Birthday
Published: Thursday, April 8, 2004 | By: DennisI found this on Anandtech
"What seems highly unusual is the scheduled introduction of Radeon X800 XT on May 31st; only a month after Radeon X800 Pro's unveiling. Recall that Radeon 9800 and 9800 XT were launched six months apart. We can speculate ATI has either changed their marketing strategy, or the difference in performance between R420 and NV40 hastens ATI's release schedule."
This is all kind of roadmap speculation so expect some things to change or be confirmed when the reviews eventually hit the wires.
Chances are Ninjalane will be watching from the sidelines.
