Vantec Vortex Cooler Review @ ExtremeMhz
Published: Friday, November 14, 2003 | By: DennisI still favor the underdrive coolers; they seem to work better by providing even cooling across the drive. Front mounted drive coolers provide airflow across the drive but only cool the part closest to the fan; the back part of the drive is as hot if not hotter than the drive un-cooled.
"To accurately measure the cooling performance of the Vantec Vortex, we will use a high quality digital temp probe that will be mounted in the same spot on the bottom center of the hard drive. We will be using the Western Digital Raptor 10K since it is one very hot running drive. Temps will be provided both with and without the Vortex installed as well as provide readings at different blower fan speed settings."
You really need 3 probes to "accurately" measure the temperature but their method does work to attain an average temp. -

Over the years I have setup quite a few webservers on both Windows and Linux, during that time I have never heard of anyone recommending to install Apache and PHP on a Windows server. The logical solution would be to download and install Linux (It's free you know) and setup your Apache and PHP installs there. Heck most distros come with all of the software needed. (Try Slackware, it’s the bomb dizzle)

Before I start getting flamed I will admit I did install PHP on this Windows server, but for a good reason.

Having registered memory is pretty important on some systems though in the past it was pretty much limited to server class machines and high end workstations. Overall performance wasn't really a huge issue either, my how times change. -
