Published: Monday, October 22, 2001 | By: Dennis

Another VisionTek review has been posted, this time by the Evil Smokers at Evil3d. I wonder if VisionTek will be the big seller this year in the video card market.

Though still plagued with problems, the soon-to-be G5 PowerPC processor will indeed be a 64-bit chip, and current yields are stable at 1.6 Ghz.

  • Via Starts up Motherboard Division

Published: Saturday, October 20, 2001 | By: Dennis

ZDnet reports that Via will start building high-end motherboards for their P4 DDR chipset. This news isn't really new to us but is worth a mention.

The way I understand it Via isn't really going to be producing the boards but will instead outsource the task to other companies that have the resources to build them. Soltek is rumored to be one of those companies.

  • P4 DDR roundup @ DDRZone

Published: Thursday, October 18, 2001 | By: Dennis

Steve is being silly over at the OXP today which isn't really anything new. You will also notice the OXP reference, it would seem they think that adding an XP to their name will make them better. tongue smile who am I to judge.

While I was there I noticed a P4 DDR 4-way at The DDRZone, check it out. It should be known that the site isn't Netscape 6 friendly

  • K7V Dragon Review Posted

Well the Dragon review has been posted and you can see all of the shiny bits in the reviews section. I really wasn't very impressed with the Dragon's performance over a regular SDRAM system; hopefully the KT266a version will be better.

  • P4X266 Motherboard Series

Published: Monday, October 15, 2001 | By: Dennis

Here is an interesting tidbit, with the legal battle on between Via and Intel many motherboard companies are shying away from Via's P4X266 chipset until a decision has been reached. So what better way to get your product to market than to finish it yourself.

I get a kick out of the 6 different P4-478 boards using 3 different PCB colors.
