DFI LanParty KT400A Motherboard Review

Introduction

Early in May, Breakdown sent me an email asking what I thought of DFI motherboards. I responded saying that I haven't heard much about them lately but from what I remember they weren't a very popular motherboard but held their own in typical run of the mill machines. He then sent me a link to a very special motherboard series from DFI that was designed to punch a hole though the old stereotypes and clearly into the enthusiast market. That board series is the LanParty.
DFI is Currently making three motherboards in the LanParty series that encompasses the 3 major performance chipsets currently on the market, The Intel 875P (Canterwood), VIA KT400A, and nVidia nForce2. In this review we will be looking at the LanParty KT400A motherboard. For those of you not familiar with the chipset I have included a map below that shows all of the included chipset features.
Basically, aside from some additions to the Southbridge the only difference between the KT400A and the older KT400 is the addition of a completely reworked memory controller.
You can see the board features a black PCB and a strange green color to the expansion and memory slots. One of the key features that separates this series of motherboards from everything else is that these slots are UV sensitive and glow under the black light. Unlike the UV markers and dyes that we all have seen, the color shown here will somewhat dictate the color they will be under the black light.

Be sure to check the conclusion page for some glamor pics
