Intel to delay launch of three 45nm quad-core CPUs on poor AMD performance
Published: Wednesday, December 19, 2007 | By: DennisIntel has already notified its partners that it will pushback the launch of the three CPUs to February or March next year, depending on AMD's schedule for triple-core and the upcoming PhenomCPUs.
Launching the CPUs now will not benefit Intelmuch in its battle with AMD, while they could cause damage to Intel's65nm quad-core CPUs, therefore the company has decided it is in no rushto release new products until AMD is able to present more of a threat.
That is really nice of them isn't it?

DangerDen M5 & MC-TDX CPU Waterblocks Review @ Virtual-Hideout
Published: Monday, December 17, 2007 | By: DennisDangerDen is one of the premier watercooling mfgs in the business, granted they aren't as big as some of the more "popular" companies out there but the DangerDen name goes a long ways with the enthusiast community.
Nothing says, "My computer rocks!" quite like a sweet looking water cooling system. And it gets better and better as all the blocks evolve. This has been true for just about every water cooling manufacturer. We've seen plenty of water cooling kits and cooling blocks come and go. And it's just as interesting today as it was the first day water cooling made its appearance.
The new TDX is very nice however is nothing like the previous edition, instead of waterchannels they have opted for a pin grid array claiming it will cool better and support the new quad core and more processors. -

Nvidia 3-way SLI technology finally supported
Published: Friday, December 14, 2007 | By: DennisNvidia has extended its SLI technology, which enables theuse of multiple GPUs on a single computer, allowing up to three GeForcegraphics cards to be used in a single machine.
Nvidia'snew 3-way SLI delivers up to a 2.8x performance increase over a singleGPU system, giving high-end gamers 60 frames per second at resolutionsas high as 2560×1600 and with 8x antialiasing, according to the company.
The article goes on to claim you need a 680 SLI chipset and 3 8800 series cards to have a 3-way. -
Merriam-Webster's word of '07: 'w00t'
Published: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 | By: DennisThis is actually pretty cool, though it should be known that our leet dictionary had that term for several years now.

Gamers commonly substitute numbers and symbols for the letters they resemble, Morse says, creating what they call "l33t speak" — that's "leet" when spoken, short for "elite" to the rest of the world.
For technophobes, the word also is familiar from the 1990 movie "Pretty Woman," in which Julia Roberts startles her date's upper-crust friends with a hearty "Woot, woot, woot!" at a polo match.
Our dictonary is always growing, so send in your suggestions, if they are good they will make it in. -
Is Nvidia (NVDA) A Buyer For AMD (AMD)?
Published: Friday, December 7, 2007 | By: DennisI found this on the news wire today, and even though its an old post the theory is quite interesting.
Mubadala Development Co, the investment arm of the Abu Dhabi government, put $622 million into AMD (AMD) last week to buy 8.1% of the company at $12.70 a share. The market did not like the deal. The stock traded at $12.64 and moved down more after hours. Wall St. understands that all AMD has done is buy a little time. The chip company has $5.1 billion in long term debt and had an operating loss of $226 million in the last quarter. Larger rival Intel (INTC) its pressuring AMD sales and margins.
There has been a lot of speculation around what each of the "big three" companies is planning to do. On the AMD side they already acquired ATI which is a big supplier of Crossfire graphic solutions for Intel. Of course Intel is rumored to have their own dual graphic solution on the market around Christmas which is likely only to run on Intel chipsets, thus negating CrossFire all together.
Then there is nVidia, hands down the graphics leader with an excellent chipset platform for both Intel and AMD. nVidia also has SLI technology that runs on their chipsets. So what would nVidia gain from buying AMD? The way I see it, nothing. nVidia would likely take out the ATI CrossFire solution and consume the AMD processor line. In doing so they would lose Intel support and thus the strongest performance platform around (Intel Core processor + nVidia SLI).
So what would be to gain? Not much, actually I'd classify a move like this to be somewhere between chopped bread and the HP+Compaq merger. (ya pretty dumb) -
ASRock plays Frankenstein; creates modern motherboard out of old parts
Published: Thursday, December 6, 2007 | By: DennisASRock's latest AliveDual eSATA2 motherboard combines theM1695 chipset, originally designed by ULi, with Nvidia's nForce 3 250,which launched in 2003, to create a modern mash-up that may soundbizarre, but is also strangely compelling.
Thanks toAMD's commitment to backwards compatibility, the AliveDual eSATA2 willstill be able to rock quad-core Phenom X4 CPUs, if that is what youwant, and ASRock has had the foresight to build in support for up to8GB DDR2 memory.
Another consequence of ASRock's weirdscience is that the AliveDual eSATA2 sports not only a PCI Expressslot, provided by the M1695, but also retains the nForce 3's AGP slot.
Althoughthe motherboard's market is not large, the very unique design means itwill still see demand in certain markets, especially in Europe, ASRockbelieves.
