After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Heatsink and Assembly

On the same account heatsinks for the P4 are not. For this review I choose to use an AVC 117140 "Sun Flower". This cooler is quite large yet is amazing to look at. Here are some brief specs on the "Sun Flower". The heatsink is made up of an extruded aluminum shell that has a sandblasted texture. The center of the heatsink is a solid copper slug that is pressure fit into place. This heatsink comes with its own mounting cage and 70mm 5000rpm fan, which moves about 33cfm of air.
To actually mount this heatsink to the 85DRS2 I needed to remove the fan and upper mounting brackets from the "Sun Flower" cage and place them on the one supplied with the motherboard, this was quite easy to do only taking a few minutes.
After the cage is in place some thermal paste (artic silver in this instance) is applied and the heatsink is put into place. The cage is then reassembled and secured into place by the locking tabs. These tabs basically apply pressure to the top of the heatsink pushing it down on the processor. No more slipping with the screwdriver or broken plastic pieces.
