After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Product Design and Features

As the product specs indicated the TS-219P is a rather small device and is really not much larger than 2x 3.5" HDDs  which is good since it will hold up to 2 HDDs complete with Hot-Swap capability.
From the back of the device you will see a single 80mm fan that is designed to keep the hard drives and motherboard cool.  On the back panel you will also find 2x USB ports, 2x ESATA ports, a single gigabit network port, power plug, and reset button.
The drive trays are rather unique in that they will support both 3.5" and 2.5" HDDs so those of us with SSD drives can install them and not only increase performance but also save power.

With the drives removed you can clearly see the hot-swap back plate and its position towards the bottom of the drive bay.
The front of the QNAP TS-219p features an activity LED for each HDD, a power LED (featured in the power button) LAN activity LED, and eSATA activity LED.  Under the power button you will find another button and single USB port.   The TS-219P supports a one touch backup feature that will copy all of the data from a USB flash drive (or any USB device) to the NAS with a single touch of the button above the USB port.
