Overclocking
The EVGA GTX550 Ti FPB card is a factory overclocked card right out of the box. So this always leaves the puzzling question of how much more performance to be had from this card. So that puts on the track of finding out just how much more of an overclock is left.
Firing up EVGA software suites of Precision and OC Scanner we were able to push this card well above the reference GTX550 Ti we had on hand from nVidia. The EVGA GTX550 Ti FPB is able to be pushed to an incredible overclock of 1065MHz core and 1105MHz on the memory. Let's look to see if this shows any real world performance increase.
UT3 and AVP show exactly the kind of performance boosts that we're looking for out of this kind of overclock. It should be noted that additional overclocking is a free performance boost but adding a second card in SLI can push these numbers even higher. It is something to think about if you are looking to increase the performance of your modest gaming rig.
