NL: Gaming Review Roundups
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: WillHere is some PC game reviews for everyone to enjoy.
Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven
Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty - and with the Slash guitar riff the newest Electronic Arts game makes its entrance on the PC platform. The game is set in the fictional setting of Paradise City and it is up to you to win races, take shortcuts and reach the finish line faster than anyone else. Winning Challenges gets you new rides and better licenses to take on more difficult challenges. Has this console favourite made a good entrance to the PC market?
Far Cary 2 Reviewed @ TheTechLounge
"Far Cry 2 is a game where you kill people for three things: diamonds, malaria pills, and fun. You're a Doom Guy in search of one man in the middle of an African shitstorm that's full of people who could care less and people who can do more. You're not there to solve problems, unless the problem is that someone stands breathing. And yeah, you got the marsh fever."

Intel 32nm Westmere Desktop Processor Roadmap Exposed @ Legit Reviews
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: WillThe one great thing about computer hardware is even in ugly economic situations. We still get to see cool new stuff coming out at rapid speed.
"The first Intel 32nm Westmere products will feature both a processor core and an integrated graphics & integrated memory controller on a single processor. What makes this design so interesting is that the processor core is 32nm and that the memory controller and integrated memory controller are on a separate 45nm die. Intel has perfected the 45nm process since they have been doing it so long they have made the gates inside the processor perform better. Since the integrated graphics and memory controller is located on a separate die it is rumored that you can adjust the power settings and clock frequencies better than on one die. Intel took their current 65nm integrated graphics technology and shrunk it down to 45nm and added all the performance tweaks to get even more performance..."
I just got my i7 920, and I already want one of these new guys.

10 Weird and Wild USB Devices @ Digital Trends
Published: Tuesday, February 10, 2009 | By: WillHere is a fun little guide of goofy things to get for you USB ports. On a serious note though I want the Stars Wars thumb drives. That is now on my official list of crap I want.
"You've no doubt connected your digital camera to your computer to download photos or have inserted a little black thumb drive to store or retrieve files. But rejoice - the USB port can be used for so much more, thanks to its ability to suck electricity through your computer, powering some of the world's strangest devices. Following are ten of the cutest, silliest and most useless examples we could find. As a fun game at home, try playing along by suggesting your own examples: You'll be amazed at mankind's capacity for ridiculousness. Oh, how we cry for the poor children."
This is a great little guide, but they missed the mark big time. Where is the USB Happy Humping Dog.

Valentine's Day Tech and Gadget Gift Guide @ Digital Trends
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: WillHere is some techie gift ideas. I know many of us need these guides to keep us out of the dog house on Valentine's Day.
"Chocolates, roses and fancy dinners are played out. OK, well maybe not fancy dinners. The point is, just because Hallmark and company have convinced you to crack open your wallet on (or preferably before) Feb. 14, doesn't mean you need to squander those dollars on something cheap, pink, and bound for the garbage in 24 hours. Take a chance to show your creative side and get your significant other something he she might really be able to use with some of our techie gift suggestions."
I think I saw a few pink items in the AVN 2008 article.

ATI RADEON HD 4830 Video Card Review @ PCShopTalk
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: DennisWe have just started to get into video card reviews "again" here at Ninjalane so you should start seeing more of these types of reviews in the future.
For this test I have used the fan at 40% from Catalyst Control Center and I was impressed to see how cool this card stays at IDLE, considering that the fan is much smaller that a dual slot design. Also, at full load for 5 minutes, the card stabilized at the 73.5 degrees Celsius value, which is more than fine."
Then again you'll need to come back to know for sure.

Q9400S & Q8200S: Intel's 65W Quad-Cores @ Techgage
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: DennisI dunno about you but I'm pretty sure this guy has every single Intel processor known to modern man.
The benefits of a low-TDP processor are obvious, but a usual downside is also obvious: low clock speeds. Intel's changing that thinking with their Core 2 Quad "S" series, which includes the Q9550S, Q9400S and also the Q8200S. Compared to their non-"S" variants, they draw less power and run cooler, all while retaining the performance they've become known for.
Then again it could just be good parenting.

OC3D: Foxconn Renaissance X58 Digital Life Motherboard
Published: Monday, February 9, 2009 | By: DennisHere is another super cool X58 board from Foxconn. Not as fancy as the BloodRage but comes with a black and orange color scheme and many of the same accessories
Upon first impressions, the Foxconn Renaissance demands your attention. The black and orange theme has been continued on from the packaging that we saw on the previous page and gives the motherboard a sleek and professional appearance. This is a major departure from the A79A-S and ELA P45's mismatch of colours. Personally I don't think a black PCB can be beaten for 'coolness'.
Stay tuned the BloodRage shall return.

Traffic Delays for Road Work, Not Zombies
Published: Thursday, February 5, 2009 | By: DennisHere is an interesting followup to some stuff we posted a few days ago
Pranksters in at least three states are corrupting electronic road signs meant to warn drivers of road work. The latest breach came Tuesday during the morning rush hour near Collinsville, Ill., where hackers changed a sign along Interstate 255 to read, “Daily lane closures due to zombies.” A day earlier in Hamilton County, Ind., the electronic board in a construction zone warned drivers of “Raptors ahead — Caution.” And signs in Austin, Tex., recently flashed: “Zombies in area! Run.” The authorities have not figured out how the signs are being reached.
For why this is so funny, see this news report.
