After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Card Layout & Features

MSI used the normal PCB setup found on the reference GTX 550 Ti cards, but the exposed heatsinks give it a completely different look.   Despite the visual differences the card is still based on the nVidia reference design.
The MSI GTX550-Ti Cyclone looks very different with the larger than life heatsink and fan that goes well past the ATX standard.  The overall height of the heatsink should only be an issue for people with small cases, but for the most part most modern ATX cases will not be an issue.
Video output is made up of 2 x DVI and a mini-HDMI digital output with an included dongle for connecting to a standard HDMI connection. HDMI does carry audio signal through a built in sound chip on the GTX 550 Ti.
SLI is limited on the GTX 550 Ti to a maximum of two cards due to the single SLI bridge connection. We saw this become a standard on the GTX 460 with obviously no change in agenda.
