Ninjalane HWBot Ranking Update
Published: Tuesday, May 4, 2010 | By: DennisSome of you may be familar with HWBot, (http://www.hwbot.org). It is a website dedicated to finding out the limits of computer hardware by taking a community approach and awarding points to members that score well. While you can use standard hardware and get a result the real fun is getting points by overclocking your hardware.
Well, Ninjalane has a HWBot team and while our team is quite small (12 Members right now) we are doing extremely well in the rankings. The team is currently ranked 13th in the US and 123rd in the World!!
.
The HWBot team is an open enrollment so if any of you are curious about the fun you can have overclocking your gear stop by the forums and we'll let you know how to get started. Likewise if you currently overclock and your team is gotten a little "meh" lately give us a look.

NGOHQ Responses to HardOCP's False Accusations
Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: WillLooks like we have a storm brewing from the recent Hybrid PhysX Mod, but it is not from NVidia. Nope it is from HardOCP noting that the tool might have a trojan in the package. So now the saga is moving onto a response from the software host site.
"It has come to our attention that HardOCP has recently published false accusations regarding GenL's PhysX Mod. HardOCP claims that mod is infected with a Trojan and recommends avoiding it and avoiding files offered by NGOHQ.com. HardOCP hasn't even bothered to contact us to request clarification, response or explanation before it published the story. In addition, HardOCP's Kyle Bennett has posted the following fascistic comment on his forums: "NGOHQ will never again see a link on HardOCP and within a few days, the name will be banned from being typed here at all. The only reason it is not right now is so that it can be discussed easily."
We have checked GenL's latest mod by using advanced tools and we couldn't find any record of malicious content in it. The file is fully clean and safe, like all the other files hosted here. However, some Antivirus software does detect it as a Trojan, but that's just a false positive due to the included EXE packer. Software developers use packers to compress their executable files and protect them from being cracked and debugged, a well known fact by every software developer and end-user. GenL is forced to use a packer since Nvidia has blocked his mod in recent drivers and it is likely they will try to do it again. GenL has even warned users regarding the false positive issue in the FAQ."Enjoy!

ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer (P55 Express) Motherboard
Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: WillI love it that the line between sever chips and enthusiast taste for speed is getting a great mix. I wonder how these new boards for the 1156 Xeons are for overclocking. I guess it is time to read.
"ASUS is known for many things; they make great enthusiast class motherboards and add-in GPUs. But how many people know they also make workstation and server class products? - We have known about this for a while and have finally gotten one in (complete with a socket 1156 Xeon for the CPU) for testing in our lab.
The P7P55 WS SuperComputer is a healthy system that also happens to have the ability to run a ton of GPUs at full x16 speeds thanks to an NF200 chip on the board. It is this multi-GPU capability that gives it the SuperComputer name. After all, if you are pushing four NVIDIA GPUs running CUDA or OpenCL, you have a massive amount of compute power at your fingertips."So many cool things to choose from.

GeForce GTX 480 3-way SLI review | Scaling tested
Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: WillWhat can I say that will make you interested in this article. "GeForce GTX 480 Triple SLI!"
"Back in January we already heard that SLI performance would be outstanding with this new series and well, that definitely tickled my senses and taste buds. As a results today we'll 'finally' have a look at SLI scaling of that GeForce GTX 480.
We look at single card performance, dual-card performance and also triple (3-way) SLI performance to see how well these puppies will scale. The article will first cover SLI performance among the new GTX 480 in several configurations and games, and then we'll check a little 2-way Multi-GPU gaming in a handsome multi-GPU slaughter-fest article in the ATI versus NVIDIA kind of way to see who and what scales the best."Enough said.

ASUS P6X58D Premium @ Techgage
Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: WillThe lack of USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0 has not killed the blitz of new X58 chipset motherboards from coming out. Motherboard makers are fixing these lack of technologies issue by adding extra chips to give support for these new technologies.
"Intel may have launched its X58 chipset nearly a year-and-a-half ago, but board vendors continue to come out with new product as technologies improve. This past winter, ASUS released the P6X58D Premium, a high-end offering that boasts support for both SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0, and one that just begs to be pushed hard with overclocking."
Good reason to make new boards.

Silverstone Fortress Series FT02 @ Bjorn3D
Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: WillHere is one of the best looking cases that has came out here recently. The 90 degree angled motherboard tray is very unique for cooling. Then the watercooling potential if just perfect for this case.
"When it comes to picking computer cases, some computer enthusiasts get very picky at the type of case that will fit their needs. With the latest hardware on the market, there is no doubt a BIG problem with the enormous amounts of heat being produced. There are plenty of ways of fixing this problem. One is by providing enough ventilation through the hardware to dissipate the heat, elongating the life span of your hardware. The second option would be to get an aftermarket cooler on the hardware, but that would still not fix the hot air problem inside the chassis. The next option would be to get low power and heat rated hardware, but this is not always available to us computer enthusiasts, because we always want the best and the fastest. So what else could be done to help with the heat problems? Well, by completely redesigning the way our hardware sit in our computer cases. This is what Silverstone did with their first RAVEN chassis and it has totally revolutionized heat dissipation in the chassis industry. "
Can you tell I like it.

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler @ Techgage
Published: Thursday, April 29, 2010 | By: WillNinjalane just published a review on this awesome new heatsink. So it is time to share. So give our review a good reading, and then jump over and check out their review. Then let us know what you think on our forum.
"A huge computer chassis deserves a huge CPU cooler, and when you need one of those, Noctua delivers. With its NH-D14, the company seems to have had the goal of delivering the largest cooler possible that could still fit on most ATX motherboards, but with that size comes extremely good performance even low noise levels."
Enjoy!

Q&A with Nvidia general manager of MCP business Drew Henry @ Digitimes
Published: Thursday, April 29, 2010 | By: WillHere is some interesting news for the NVidia fans. Looks like NVidia might be holding an ace up there sleeve for when the time is right. Can anyone say GTX 400 512 core beast. Still this is marketing at it's best and we just have to wait and see if it comes true.
With numerous negative rumors surrounding the discrete graphics card market regarding Nvidia's new GeForce 480/470 (Fermi) graphics chip, and facing competition from AMD, Digitimes recently had chance to talk to Drew Henry, Nvidia general manager of MCP business regarding the company's comment about these rumors as well as its strategy for the future.
Q: What are your comments on the rumors that Nvidia has blocked some graphics cores with problems on their GeForce 480/470 chips causing these chips to have less than 512 cores due to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC's) low yields?
A: Nvidia does not comment on unannounced products; however, we have a chance to launch a graphics chip with 512 cores in the future.
TSMC's yields for its 40nm process has met our expectations and market rumors about the yields being lower than 20% are completely untrue. We currently have everything under control.I love the sound of progress.
